I do not know how to name it so let it be just "A knife".
The blade is my "Crazy Dmitry Steel". Hand forged very close to the final shape. Only two blades were made from this ingot, that is the first one. 7-3/8" long, 1-1/16" wide and a tad under 3/16" thick at the guard. Differential heat treatment with visible temper line. Finished to 800 grit and etched to create an antique look. Some steel pattern is still visible. About 12" OAL
The guard is Nickel-Silver and brass. Hand engraved on the front side.
The handle is deer antler. I carved a lanyard hole in the crown. The handle and the "bead" are sealed with polyurethane. The cord is suede.
This knife comes with the hand stitched, dyed and tooled leather sheath.
SOLD
Thank you!

I love this knife! What kind of steel is that "ingot"? Honestly, I don't even know what an ingot is?

I make my own crucible steel. You may take a look at my website in the Articles. Generally I make ultra high carbon steel with no alloying. It is an equivalent of an ancient Wootz steel. In my opinion only the old blades (18'th century and older) could be considered the real Wootz. After Wootz production ceased the knowledge was somewhat lost. I am trying to rediscover it.

Why "Crazy Dmitry Steel"?
Because only a crazy one (me it is) can spend so much time, effort and money to melt his own steel AT HOME instead of buying it on the market.

Got the piece today.... just wow. I attended the Pasadena Knife Expo and after looking at the work of the many masters this knife is still awe-inspiring. That "Crazy Dmitry" steel is a phenom. Thanks again!
