Have you ever bought a traditional slip-joint knife that led you down a collection path?

sunknife sunknife gifted me a Camillus Roy Rogers knife, not sure he even knew I was a big fan of Roy Rogers and The Lone Ranger. I watch Roy every afternoon while I wait for my wife to get home from work. It brings back wonderful memories of watching it as a kid, and it's still just as enjoyable today. Well that knife led to another, and then a few other collectibles made their way to me, and I don't see it stopping any time soon.

So if a knife gift or purchase has led you down a similar path, post up your collections. 🤠

My small but growing collection; (2) knives, a bandana, a pin, a watch, and a cereal box ring...

Long ago, i spoke about single blade trappers in the traditionals and movies. What really cemented my love for them was the movie Silence of the lambs. An even longer time ago I remember trying to modify a junk shop trapper with a spey and clip blade because of it. I never did find the exact knife. I remember googling and googling and 2Dead 2Dead 's pictures of 48s and assorted other traps would line the search returns. It's what brought me to the Porch. Right next to the nightstick.

What a trip down memory lane, there used to be a Roy Roger's restaurant in the neighborhood I lived in when we had first moved to America!

I can't think of what I might have done to qualify for the op question, JohnDF, but I must tell you: you have to get one or more of the early 1950s Roy Rogers lunchboxes (preferably with thermos) to keep your RR kit in. And, thank goodness, RR stands here for an American icon, not Chinese. Just me.

Not a first knife that lead me to collecting, but mine was like the old TV show mentioned, the Sunday morning reruns of old Tarzan films, especially Johnny Weismueller and Gordon Scott. Later the Tarzan series with Ron Eley.

John, there are, floating around out there somewhere, Roy Rogers single blade pocketknives w/ clip blade and red plastic handles with Roy Rogers in white embossed paint on the handles. The only one I handled was USA brand (an old Providence RI brand iirc) of the type you saw on gas station knife cards. It was too far gone for me to buy at the inflated price the dealer wanted, but I’m sure you could find one if you looked around. OH

I'll keep a lookout. 🤠

Until then, I keep everything in this cool box...

Even has a pop-up diorama...
