A Knife Leading Me Down a Path

John, hope you had a chance to see the Roy Rogers - Dale Evans Museum in Apple Valley CA when it was still open. A nice side trip from Fort Irwin and the NTC was to stop by there and spend an afternoon - THOUSANDS of RR/DE items on display in addition to Trigger and Buttermilk done complete by taxidermists. OH

Cool collection you have started, John. As a kid I never missed Roy & Dale on the black and white tube tv. Lone Ranger and Zorro were also favorites. Roy & Dale were snappy dressers weren't they, and cool to see the memorabilia in color like that bandana you have. About 6 years ago I picked up this DVD set to revisit my childhood, boy how content and subject matter have changed in TV and movie movie making nowadays. Simpler Times back then.

My first 70s case turned into a way bigger deal than Gec ever did for me. And I was into those for awhile. Now I’m looking at them all thinking I gotta thin these out or go to therapy...
I got an 18 pattern that let me to a 32 and you know the rest. Cool Roy Rogers knives. I saw them around as a kid. I always ordered the Roy Rogers as a beverage at the grown up night out for dinner fancy restaurant outings too!

Have you ever bought a traditional slip-joint knife that led you down a collection path?

sunknife sunknife gifted me a Camillus Roy Rogers knife, not sure he even knew I was a big fan of Roy Rogers and The Lone Ranger. I watch Roy every afternoon while I wait for my wife to get home from work. It brings back wonderful memories of watching it as a kid, and it's still just as enjoyable today. Well that knife led to another, and then a few other collectibles made their way to me, and I don't see it stopping any time soon.

So if a knife gift or purchase has led you down a similar path, post up your collections. 🤠

My small but growing collection; (2) knives, a bandana, a pin, a watch, and a cereal box ring...

Wonderful sentimentalism, thanks for sharing 😊👍

I added a couple of more little treasures to the Roy Rogers collection.
USA made Novelty Knife from many years ago, and a brass neckerchief slide.

I like that knife! I don’t have a Roy Rogers knife but your collection reminded me of the time my wife and I got to see Roy, Dale, and the Sons of the Pioneers (1971 version) when they headlined the Cheyenne Frontier Days night show that year. It was a great show. Thanks for bringing back a nice memory! :)
