hello , my name is david and i have enjoyed this site a great deal and the knowledge here is unbelieveable.
my question is , i am getting a knife to leave my grandson in my will and i have very little to spend. i have seen pics on aj russels site of a knife called a schatt and morgan , file and wire special gunstock with ats 34 steel at under a hundred. is this a well made knife and blade material. i know it is a beautiful knife as are several knives mr russel has for sale.i like the blade shape . do u think it is a knife that will serve my grand son well. i know my grand son will keep and cherish what ever i leave him but i want him to have a good knife. thank you for your help and advice.

Schatt & Morgan F&W in ATS-34: absolutely a top of the line traditional pocketknife.

Very highly recommended.

And made in the USA.

I don`t know about that knife cause is don`t like the small pocket knives I`m more into huge camp knives, but ATS-34 is definetaly a good steel for a small knife like that.

If you haven't already purchased a knife, here is my 2 cents:
You have the choice of two kinds of knives:

1. A classic traditional pocketknife that looks great and would probally serve your purpose of a knife that he'll keep forever and never abuse.

2. A purely functional knife that your grandson will use everyday, from opening letters, to gutting a deer. This is my catagory. I am a Benchmade fanatic, and it takes a ton of persuasion to get me to buy from another company. Benchmade offers custom knife quality, at a somewhat affordable price. Look on the internet, you can find most of their pocket knives in the $100-$120 range. I have never had a benchmade fail me, EVER! Look at the model 720, I just bought one, and it is a fine piece of cutlery!
