A knife that locks closed?

I think he did. In case you are unfamiliar with its particulars, the Kershaw Leek has a sliding lock in the base of the handle, which secures the blade in closed position.

I think the OP was placing emphasis on the mysterious or "trlck" method of opening the pen knife more than "the knife locks up" thing. Oh well, been reading for a long time and thought I'd post something. Cool that TLU has offered to make Grandpa's knife materialize for you bivouacjack! Very cool. :D

Again I say, you didn't read the post did you?
What part of the knife he described resembles the sliding lock on the Leek? Last I checked, the Leek wasn't a "small penknife" with a "hidden lock".

It sounds like you don't carry enough big folders a Leek is a "small penknife" with a "hidden lock". :p

Ok, I give that the Leek is a small penknife (I was under the impression that the term penknife referred to traditional, slip-joint type folders including multi-tools like a SAK) but the lock isn't exactly hidden as the OP described.
