About this time last year I decided to bit the bullet and buy a knife that I didn't need. I had an Ontario RTAK-II and a Becker BK7 so there was no need for any other large knife but alas, I was not immune to the hype. After hearing everyone rant and rave about the Becker BK9 I just had to have one for myself. So I bought one, and when I received it I fell in love with The King. I hated the coating so I stripped it, the handles were lame so I ditched them and replaced them with some factory micarta handles, this lovely package needed something better than the nylon envelope that it came with for a sheath. I had JD from 710 Kydex make me a KILLER sheath, fitting of a king. And then it was complete, my favorite knife. A knife that went with me everywhere and could compete with any tool of it's sort. I happily swung that beast up until one day I came home and I was going to go take the king out into the back forty to help breakdown a big tree branch that had fallen in a big spring storm. I go to the big toolbox where I keep my knives and it's not there. No panic, I remembered I left it in the carport/overhang next to my house when I was hacking up some kindling so I go out there and its missing. I knew exactly where I left it and it was gone. I searched my whole property up and down for over a week. No BK9. The knife has been missing for months but the wound still fresh from my stolen BK9.
I wish nothing but bad luck on a person with so little respect to take a mans knife from his own property. I do hope that the knife is still living a good hard working life.
Just a rant about a knife I miss more than any other of the hundreds of physical possessions I've lost over time. Thanks for listening and mourning the loss of an amazing knife.
I'd love to see your guys's 9s that HAVEN'T been stolen, and better still any stories where your 9 came through for you
