Sebenza4ever said:A letter to cliff-Stamp the Spyderco fan about Sebenza.
I have been to your web page cliff. I have respect for your knowledge. Apparently, You are into testing and the cutting ability of knives and nothing beyond that.
Someone has to say it.
Do you have a contract with Spyderco?
Do they send you a lot of free knives and you feel obliged to promote their knives?
Do you have a drink with Sal every now and again?
You take every opportunity to diss Sebenza, Striders and pretty much everything but Spyderco.
Sebenza is a small business. It is someones livelihood. It is not a corporate or a football team.
I can understand this from a spyderco fanatic but not from some one posing as an objective unbiased knife expert.
Have some respect for a knife that is a cult, that has thousands of fans and is considered by many to be the best.
You are harming no one but your integrity as a self styled knife guru.
Sebenza, Dont hate it because it is beautifull.

I am interested in hearing what he has to say.
As I said before, I am not questioning his technical knowledge. I am questioning his vision of knives and why people might like them for different reasons.
When he gives his answers to new members and visitors who know nothing about knives, he goes out of his way to underrate Sebenza. He does not give the full story about locks and grind. He just slags off Sebenza.
I dont think that this is fare play and I dont think that this is objective criticism.
This is arrogance that got out of hand in the form of displaying animosity to a great brand and a great maker just to say I am good, I know better and I am not afraid of being different.
My regards.
I'm fairly new to the forums, but not to knives, and I've asked Cliff several questions pertaining to knives. Guess what, Sebenza4ever, not once has he replied with "Don't get a Sebenza" or "Sebenzas suck", so I think you're coming from out in left field with some of your comments!

I enjoy Cliff's reviews and I have tremendous respect for what he does. Just the same, that doesn't mean I'm going to get rid of my Sebenza. Anybody who would get rid of (or not buy) a knife that they really liked (for whatever reason), because one person on the internet claimed it was inferior, needs help in the confidence department. You've gotta do some research on your own, too.
What Cliff does is provide some education for people who want to make an informed decision and who want to know what types of knives can stand up to certain tasks. What you do with that knowledge is entirely up to you and you alone.
Its funny that you mentioned Spyderco, because Sal Glesser, Spyderco's founder and President, has nothing but tremendous respect for Chris Reeve and the Sebenza. Sal has, on several occasions, said wonderful things about CRK and Chris' dedication and innovation, and he's mentioned the Sebenza in particular as a pinacle in production knifemaking. So, if I were you, I wouldn't cast a Spyderco vs. CRK light to your argument.
BTW, Sebenza4ever, you might think about just ignoring Cliff's comments, if they don't suit you. Otherwise, you could always use your Sebenza to cut some cheese to go with your whine.

Cheers (or in your case, cheese),
