Today in the little store a resident was complaining she'd locked herself out of her house.
"What am I going to do?" She said. "I'm locked out, my keys are inside, and I've no way to get back in."
"Is there any way through a window?" The general store manager asked.
"Yeah, if you were a little kid maybe."
"Well, I know where you can get one of those. " I told her. "Carter's skinny as a rail and strong. Could he fit?"
"I think he could."
So she followed us to my house. Carter was at home listening to Beatles music.
"It's an emergency," I yelled downstairs to the basement, "come on up."
He returned home about 5 minutes later with five new dollars in his pocket.
"You know," I told the gal, "This could be the start of a lucrative B and E career. "

I just got word my Dad is in ICU. The operation to reattach the pleura (sic?) to the lining of his lungs was not possible with small incisions as hoped; they had to open him like a trout. He's all drugged up and is out of it.
Last time he recovered from surgery he got paranoid as old men are want to do. He thought the staff was robbing him!
Anyway, good thoughts and prayers accepted gratefuly for Dad. We argued most our lives but he's a good old bird, if not an occasional SOB.
