A lightweight jogger’s folder…

Any suggestions for a folder with a 4” blade (+/-), slim handle, under 2.5oz (the lighter, the better), for under $60? I want to carry a folder in my Flip Belt while I’m out running along the river bike trail in my area. Hope to never use it, but it’s getting sketchy out there. Plastic handle, no liners, all fine as long as the blade locks. I sweat like a hog so rustic carbony blades probably not the best. Thanks.

These specs are going to be impossible to get at your price range, unless you get a cheap chinese clone, which would be unwise to stake your life on. Staking your safety on a knife is tenuous in and of itself, but we all consider it, even those that don't admit it. A folder that big isn't likely to get even remotely close to 2.5oz. At that price range, your best bet is to find a kershaw you like, or get an ontario rat 2 if you favor weight, ontario rat 1 if you favor length.

Buck 110 LT. Light and locking and 3.75" blade. About $40. Stainless as anything, plastic handle, no liners, and light. I have two and they are terrific. Give it a try.

Thanks for the replies. I’ll take a look at the buck 110. Fixed would be great but laws in my state require a fixed to be in a sheath at the waist with handle visible; not gonna run like that. Yes, a small folder (or any knife) is less than ideal for protection, completely agree, but if needed it can turn the tables just enough. Thanks again.

Daggerr Sting is a very sharp/stabby knife that opens quickly and smoothly, the liner lock is very secure, and is D2 steel. It is offered in different colors (mine is ghost jade) and a heck of a nice knife for $70. It is a bit heavier but not enough to notice. I am a Spyderco fan, and would recommend an Endura if price point can be higher. Good luck with your search.

I stand corrected lol. I'd never even heard of the buck 110 slim. With that being a lock back, is it easily flickable?

A Cold Steel Air Lite is a fine 3.5 inch folder , close to your weight and price desires, but stronger than any knife mentioned so far. I wear mine clipped IWB during work outs and usually wipe off sweat. Would make a fine self defense blade for its size. Appears to be quite a bit stronger than another of my favorites ,the Endura.

Spyderco Byrd Cara Cara 2 is close to your wish list. FRN handles, lock back, 3.75” blade and comes in drop point, wharnie and Emerson style opener. Weight is a little above your target at 3-3.5 ounces. Price is good as most flavors can be found for less than $40.

Kabar Dozier folder, 2.2oz, back lock, AUS8, pocket clip, thumb stud and available in a coated blade for even better corrosion resistance! Actually a great knife, I have one and would carry it more if I didn't have so many others to choose from, just trying to carry them all. Also available in public friendly pink amongst other color choices.

P.S. I should have mentioned they are under $38 and can be had in the less than $25 range if you look hard enough.

Plastic cannot be made as sharp as metal or ceramic . Not a replacement, by any means, for a "real" knife .

But might help for SD , if you have nothing better on your run . Light and totally sweat proof !

I would definitely be looking at the Spyderco Byrd range of knives. Lightweight, locking, not expensive (but you know they will be reliable).
For true lightweight and total no rust, I'd be looking at spending a little more for a Spyderco Salt series H1 steel, but the Byrd (or any knife) if it's cleaned and dried after every outing will be fine.
