Also known as a Gaucho knife. Kind of like the bowie equivalent of South America, a knife carried for utility and for fighting historically by the Gaucho cowboys of the pampas herdlands. Of course they were never quenched Japanese style
and were often quite long, up to short sword length.
This one features a hamon blade of W2, with a forged integral bolster fit to the handle by the keyhole method, a handle piece of African Blackwood, and a keyhole fit mild steel pommel. The front keyhole is reinforced by a vertical stainless peened pin, and the back keyhole is reinforced by a threaded finial bolt. The bolt is turned from stainless steel, and holds a stainless lanyard bail. A leather tassel/lanyard is tied with bleed knots to the bail.
Specs:
Overall length, tip to finial: 10-5/8
Blade length, tip to heel: 6-1/8
Spine thickness at bolster: .190
Blade width at heel: 1-1/4
Handle max thickness: +/- 9/16
Total knife weight: 6-3/4 oz.
Balance point: ¼ behind blade heel.
The handle is hand rubbed to 1000 grit all over and the blackwood is teak oil finished.
A RH black sheath with tri-weave tooling is included.
I have never said this about a knife in a sales thread, but this may be personally my favorite knife that Ive made yet. Something about the style of it, and with that hamon that kind of breaks my heart.
Its gonna take $450 to pry this from my hand, and that will include shipping insured within the US. NOW SOLD PENDING FUNDS.
Here's a ton of pics, with a video tour of the hamon and knife at the end.
Look carfefully at the area above the hamon. The grain of the steel is visible...

I make knives to the best of my ability and knowledge. I research to find the best materials and methods to use, in order to provide the very best product, in terms of value, durability, performance, and aesthetics. Should you find a knife you have bought from me to be lacking in any of these respects, you may ship it back to me at my expense for a full money-back return.
Should a knife purchased from me fail in materials or workmanship, please ship it back to me at my own expense for your money back in full, or repairs at no cost. Its your choice.
I will sharpen any of my knives at no cost; however I do ask that you pay for shipping costs for this service.
I am always pleased to hear from any of my customers, past, repeat, potential, or otherwise. Please go to my web site, see "Contact Me" and give me a call. If you have any questions regarding these policies, I'd like to hear them.
