A little help choosing a spyderco?

My three favorite Spydercos are the Military, Pacific Salt fully serrated, and the Caly 3.5.

Your preferences seem to be similar to mine, light, thin and easy to carry, so I would go with the Caly 3.5 or a G10 Millie.

Looks like I'll be over in Columbia at Knifeworks tomorrow and I'm still perusing the different spydercos trying to decide. Here's what I'm thinking for now.

1. Endura or delica in superblue. I like the sb idea but I'm not a huge fan of the laminated I don't think. Also I prefer the endura size, but I already have a pacific salt and a military.

2. Police. The ss version is kind of cool looking, but again, I already have the two large folders so....

3. Tasman salt. Meh, I can always use a new salt and this one is very different from anything in my lineup.

4. Southard. I'm going to give this one a good hard look. It could fill the "mid-size knife" vacancy left by my recently sold pm2. If I got this though I might want to wait for the black version.

5. Another pm2? Hahah. Where's Jnewell?? Uhhh...you might have been right man. :o. I only dropped it in the mail yesterday and I already have misgivings. Oh well, I got a fair price and I guess I can always get another if I feel the need.

Ok, thats pretty much what I'm thinking for now. I will look at some of the mid size stuff like the sage, but none of it is really calling to me. Anyone see anything glaringly absent from my list? I don't get to go to a big b&m often so I want to make sure I look at everything. :)

Thanks,

Lance

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said yourself that the Southard fills in a gap that you need/want filled. You shouldn't worry about the scale color...you can ALWAYS change that part of it up later. In the mean time, you get the knife you want that fills your needs. ;)

Southard would be the best considering what you have. It is classier and carries very small.
You can add a SE Tasman since it is very special and pretty cheap... ;)

stretch and nilakka.

Have fun! Going to a large store like that must be sweet...I'd be in there for hours.

Jut got back from Knifeworks! Man, I was there for a couple of hours bugging poor Ashley behind the counter. "Can I see that southard again? Ooh is that the s90v manix??" Haha. Anyway, I narrowed it down to a southard, a stepped manix 2 xl s90v, and a fluted ti Millie. (Yep, they had one in stock that wasn't on the site.) and....

And I just couldn't get my heart into any of them. Fluted ti Millie was cool, but not really any cooler than my regular ti. The southard was nice, but didn't wow me. Handle a bit small and I didn't really like the cutout...I'm just not really sound on flippers either. I liked the idea of getting some s90v but I just couldn't imagine what I was going to do with that big manix that I couldn't already do with my military. So, I left empty handed. Huh.

Welllll....ALMOST! Hahaha.

This little baby was $65 and I'm more stoked with it than any of the high dollar stuff I was looking at! And it will damn sure see more use. Great design!

Great choice! Wrong color though :p No point in throwing lots on money at knives you don't "need" ;)

Nice!

Left empty handed...impossible!! I knew it was a lie... ;)

My girlfriend makes me get black salts now after seeing how disgusting my yellow dragonfly looked with just a couple of months of dried fish goo buried in the grip. The black is still nasty but you know...out of sight, out of mind. Haha, and lord you should SMELL em! I have to give em a lemon juice bath once a month or so. :D

You can still find Cru Wear Millies online for under $200. I am at the point right now where I want every knife I buy to be a Military. Just got a Manix, and will probably sell it before I cut something with it - it just isn't for me.

I have a Super Blue Endura coming tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes.

So is your shopping over, or you still going to buy another?

Lance I saw your name and that you were looking for a new knife and I came by just to recommend an SE Tasman. You NEED one man.

Other than that since you mention it any of the Sage series are great (my favorite being the old G10 S3) and since you also mention flippers the Domino would be my suggestion there. Knowing what you ready have/like I'd definitely say you need that Tasman tho and it's the cheapest one on your list.
