a little help...trying to find a chopper

There is no substitute for a good mistress. :D

2008 SE FBM... full hight grind, .270" thick, satin, with a beveled clip.
Basically a satin CG FBM without the CBT. ;)

Everyone focused on the BM versions, but if he wants something RIGHT NOW, wouldn't the NMSFNO be a reasonable choice?

Unless he can score a BM on the X.

We're focusing on that because of his specified size of "the same size as a DogFather", which is the ScrapYard version of the Battle Mistress, MUCH larger than the NMSFNO.

Hey, you might want to hop on over to the swamp rat sub forum. They are starting pre order on a 9 inch chopper made of sr101.

It looks like a real beauty. It is about the same size as the dogfather, Busse basic 9 etc.

$248 for the LE version, if they release a CG version it will be cheaper than that.

Yes that was a quick way to spend $500...but two of these M9LE's are a great deal....and if they handle like a SHBM....What a knife!

I'm having exactly the same thought.:D

This is a fortuitous answer to the OP's question.

I am so glad you mentioned that. It ain't a Busse Combat, but for the money, that new M9LE is sweet. I really like the NMSFNO LE, but it is dear. Now I can get the 1" longer M9LE for way less than half the price and the same warranty. No, it isn't a NMSFNO LE, but it is a beauty! And it came out just in time to fill his chopper needs!

That is really a good looking blade !! and a great price !! I wonder what the practical performance difference is between the SR101 steel and infi steel in a chopper like this? ... In the normal user situation, what kind of differences will you notice? ie. does the SR101 go dull faster or does the edge roll over easier, or maybe does the edge chip more than infi ?

from what I hear, to notice the performance difference you would have to be a machine. SR101 is supposed to be right up there with Infi. There is a reason that people who own Infi still line up to buy new swamprats, and scrapyards.

Also, there is a Battlerat and a Dogfather on the exchange right not if I am not mistaken.
