A Little Hike With My Dog Today

I took my dog out for a hike today. This is the only place I can really go hiking with him that isn't too far from my house. It's nice on cold days like today but it can get really crowded in the Summer so we avoid it then. I let him run loose but make sure there aren't any people around. We had a great time. For an old dog, he has a lot of energy.

And of course, this has been my EDC for the past few weeks. Can you tell I like orange?

Great pictures Ray. I hear you on the off-season with the dogs. Thats just how it is, but also shows your responsible ownership. As I looked at your EDC stuff the thought popped in my head, how ironic it would be if you lost your items by putting them down somewhere in a pumpkin patch :D

ray, that last ( bottom ) dog pic reminded me of the old " rin tin tin " tv series of the late 1950's. maybe some of the other old geezers will remember that time. :D

I was gonna say ... great picture of him! With country like that to run in, no wonder he's still got the energy to enjoy getting out.

Now all you have to do is teach on old dog a new trick..... take pictures of his Master.
Pitdog can help you out...... Maisy is a pro!
Great pictures!

great pics Ray... i'm going to have to show them to the boys, they always love seeing pics of Bear...:D looks like he loves posing for the camera...
cool looking EDC set up too man.. glad to hear you're liking that Spyderco..:)

Was that at Slickrock? I need to go there soon and check it out, I haven't been there in a while. I usually drive by on my way to the high country, and it is usually crowded (and underwater) in the summer anyway.

Good looking place. Looks like somewhere I would want to spend a few days alone, for some odd reason.

Yes, it's Slickrock. This is the only time of year I like to go there and I only go there because it's the only place Bear is allowed to hike. In the summer it's too hot and crowded and underwater. The bad thing is that they now charge $4 for day use. I've been going there for 9 years and never had to pay until now.

Mike, yes I really like the Spyderco. Bear likes to pose for pics.. He jumped up on top of that rock just to have his picture taken:D

He will be 11 years old in March but he still acts very much like a puppy.

great pics thanks...what is your dog always looking at...haha

He IS always staring at something. He is a very curious dog. His senses are always on high alert when we go out for a walk. He wants to investigate everything he sees, smells, and hears.

In this place, I just kind of let him do whatever he wants as long as I can see him. There are no regular trails but just a big area with a river running through it. In the Summer, this place is a lake and underwater. It's full of boaters. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with him running around all over the place but we both have a great time. I try to enjoy as much as I can now because I know he's gettin old, at least in age but not in body and mind.

I just took this cute picture of him in bed a minute ago. I woke him up with the camera:D. He goes to bed on his own at almost exactly 10:00 pm... as if he knows the time or something. :)

Great pics buddy, I love that 'King of the hill' pic with Bear...good stuff !

Hey Ray! Great photos! We took the kids up there when the weather was warmer. We were swimming, didn't do too much hiking.
