A little mod

Your welcome, when I get my camera back from Canon, I'll take a pic of what I was trying to explain, you'll laugh when you see what a cobbled up setup it really is, a board, with a motor and a v-belt driving an arbor with two treaded shafts out each side, one side has the 9" disc I made from particle board from cutting out a hole for our kitchen sink in the counter top and then carefully cutting a 9" circle! I use self adhesive sand paper, very coarse, 60 grit, on that

and on the other side is where I stick that small drum sander, you take a sheet of sand paper, cut it down the middle length ways and it wraps around a layer of foam and tucks into a slot and has a turn/wedge that locks it into place.

I switch out the sanding disk for a buffing wheel. Have to pull the v-belt to get things going, it's pretty old setup, the guy that lived here before me left it he lived here ten years, I'm here now about 23 years, so it's going pretty good! :)

could you use a dremel for the thumb opening scallop?

If so, which attachment?

I really want to do this as it will greatly improve the opening.

thanks!
Brett

Never owned a dremel, although I've always wanted one!

Maybe someone will chime in that can help with your question,

I'm not laughing...Here's what's been sharpening drills, tool bits, wire-brushing motorcycle parts, and buffing everything since 1978 in my basement... :D

Scrap metal and spare parts, plus a little time (and a welder)...It's lasted longer than almost any other tool I have... ;)

That's very similar to my setup, except close the pulleys together so that the belt just barely fits between them, make a longer belt and you'd have my setup :)
I'll get a shot of mine some time and post it up,

Very nice work, Gary. Out of curiousity, do you have any pics of the Buck with a small Seb? I'm assuming they are very close in size?

Sorry but no, don't have that to compare with, but I think you're right it's about the same size, a bit less in price but still a great cutter and Ti handles and integral lock, I just made it a bit more comfy feeling was all ;)
