I found these two at an estate sale some years ago... long before I had any thoughts about making knives. I had no use for them then, I just thought they were interesting. Now, of course, I think they might make nice handles for an African style sword type thingy.

those are way cool greg.Any idea what kind of bone they are? What are the dimensions? Must be kinda big if you're thinking sword handles....or would you use both on a single sword thingy?

Yeah, they are pretty big. Bone 1 is 6.25" x 1.25" x 2" and Bone 2 is 6.75" x 1.25" x 2". The look like femur type bones... probably from a cow or some similar sized animal.

Excuse me sir, but have you considered something similar on your latest dagger WIP?
Since Mr. Lemée has suggested a taken down, a carved handle would look smashing.

These bones are too large for conventional knives... except perhaps a Musso Bowie ;).

Wow, femur bone perhaps? Those are rather large.
But no I meant if you'd played around with the idea of carving a handle for your new dagger, perhaps using the burl you've already put aside, some antler, or going for bone. Between your cloth work and your blade-style, I think you'd turn out something unique.
BTW--sorry to hear about your food poisoning, good to see you making a strong come back.
