If you want to put a shop in part of a house, I would suggest walling that part off and putting in a separate entrance from outdoors. Separate heating and cooling systems too. The fine dust that passes through our dust collector filters here at work makes it's way through the little cracks above the tool chest drawers all over the shop and coats all the tools in the drawers. Fine dust really does go everywhere. Having coveralls or a change of clothes for really dusty jobs so you can leave the dirt in the shop is not a bad idea either.
