A little surprize at the house!!!

Sorry, but it was a bit too late to knock on your door to ask to use the toilet.

Next time I will at least step off the roadway before doing my business.

I lived in Bulgaria, and they used to call me "Little Bear"

Beat me to it.

Looks to me like that knife is da shi@!

lol

Dave, down on the Kenai happens to have one of the highest concentrations of Blackies going. I use to float the Swanson River and that area is LOADED and not to be taken lightly!!! Tell him to watch his back right now. Most Browns have headed toward the hills and berry patches but the blackies will hang around longer in the lowlands. I had a friend out Funny River Road in Soldotna that had a horse killed from a Browny, so again you always have to be cognisant of your surroundings.

So it seems the brown bears have become wise to us. Are they smarter than black bears? Or is it only a matter of time before blackies too figure out we're squishy, food filled sacks that lack inherent defense.

Actually Brownys shy away more except if you come into there immediate A/O like w/cubs or a kill site. Blacks are the ones that have lost there fear of man and have no compunction of coming in on you. When I was a Public Safety Officer down in S.E. Alaska there were more cases than you might think where the hunter became the hunted. Black Bear are very sneaky and YES I know there really hasn't been that many encounters between man and bear, but then there is no since in being stupid and look at a blacky like gentle ben either. So I will say that you are correct in that Black Bear see us as a food source when the situation presents itself.
