A little sword help for a novice? :P

i would recommend a tarwar from H.I.

it's POB is around 6"
COP 13"?
and it think it's around 2.2-2.5 lbs. (very rough estimate)
blade length is 21"
handle length 8"

you would think that this would contribute to a very blade heavy sword. but due to the relatively long handle to blade length ratio, mid weight, it handles very well but definitely has a chopping authority or bias.

it does make sense in my opinion that a short sword with a chopping purpose be relatively blade forward. regardless, i think it is a must for any H.I collector.

only problem with it is the guard. it's made with a buttcap from a khukuri and has a real tendancy to dig into your hand. the small guard looks really nice on it though... greed of aesthetics vs practicality?

boy, i've been out of the sword scene for a very long time.

hope this helps.

I bought one of the manjushrees back in january i believe for about $170 or something around that. Double fullered double edged blade looks pretty medieval. weighs about 2.5 pounds i think about 28 inches long.

sorry pic is crappy.

although the handle is wood carved and very nice, i would probably re-handle mine someday. theirs things i like about the ball like hilt and things i dont.

but overall its a damn fine sword, beastly and beautiful.

I like that a lot!! A Roman style gladius is my favorite in the short sword arena. That blade is right there, especially considering all the different variations of the Roman style gladius short.

Yes very nice. In regards to the Roman sword, thrust [ stab] is a kill. Sabres cut, extreme blood loss, maybe a kill.

Kuhkuri, wow, severed limb or head. :o

l just placed an order for a 25" sirupati.

lf the quality and beauty is anything like my 20" A.K., l'm gonna be in love.
