Had a chance to take the Kukri on vacation to Michigan for week. Unfortunately my older son got pretty sick 3 days into our trip so we couldnt stay the entire time:(

It was far from roughing it but I still brought a bunch of knives and guns:)

Here's some pics of want I brought with as far as my bag that I carry on my hikes and the cutting tools I brought. Also a pic of the 4 that were used the most. My multitool and spyderco were used for lots of different things. The hunter was used to death in the kitchen and of course the Kuk was used to process wood and etc...:

It was really a pleasure to work with the Kukri. Its small and light enough to carry that it wont weigh you down. Super sharp like all Johns knives. I only had a chance to use it for a short time so here are pics.
Making feather sticks for a fire was not a problem at all. And with the 90 degree edge it sparks a ferro rod without a problem! I cut through an 8 foot by 3 in downed tree without a problem. Making tent stakes was very easy as well.
Here are some more pics:

Thanks for the rundown and pics, it put's the size of this on in perspective. Looks handy!

I hope your boy is feeling better now.

Since I couldnt get around to using it like I wanted to Im thinking Id do a pass around to a few people that are interested in trying it out!
If ur interested please contact me via email: brenka@sbcglobal.net.
6 people max for this one with the understanding that you can review it for up to a week and ship to the next person that I give you info for. Shipping must be insured for $300 and pics and breif review must be posted for others to see what a great job John did on these. At the end of the pass around I will take all 6 names and number them. If John agrees ill ask him to pick a number and who ever it is will get a sharp cutting tool as a thank u!!!
Thanks
Danny

you rock Danny!!!

we will see how many people sign up for this.

If you need an extra I will be happy to do it. I am planning on buying one one way or the other.

it is very generous of you to offer up your beautiful knife for everybody to pass around

Hell yeah I'm in on the pass around. I really would love to get in on a pass around. Email being sent!! thanks for the review. I would love to check this bad boy out.

Nice offering others the chance to check it out Danny.
I would like to,but I don't get to the woods as much as I'd like now days & I live in an apartment soooo I gotta pass on the chance to play with your cool new toy.
That is an awesome looking Kuk for John's first try though, congrats!

Ur # 1 Grunt!!!

Sweet!! Possibly though you should start a separate thread. You will probably get more folks signed up that way. I'm stoked to try this thing out. I can't decide between the kukri or the gamblers Bowie. They are both so freaking awesome.

Hi Danny - I am in if you decide to go forward with the passaround.

hey Danny.
looks like you had a great time. thanks much for the pics!

Attention everyone please, there is going to be an additional knife added to the pass-around.

I own one of John's "The Beast" choppers and Danny agrees that it would be very interesting to see
how these two perform side by side in the environment they where made for.
Mine even has orange handles so they're a matching pair :-)

I will be sending my knife off to Danny so both knives will be together once the pass-around
starts, Nobody has to pay any additional postal insurance past the specified $300,
If they get lost in the mail sometime during the process Danny will be covered and I'll take
it as a loss.

I will not hold any of the members involved in this liable for any wear and tear or damage done during the course
of testing, I encourage everyone to test it's full potential and sharpen the blade as needed, don't baby it, I
want some character marks on that blade when it comes back.

Sound alright to everybody?

The pleasure is all mine John.
,
Now we need a few more folks to fill up the roster...

This is going to be fun.

Cool Russ!

The beast is a BEAST.

I will have the XD XM Tactical Bowie to compare as well - it will be the JK Big Knife review.
