A Local Knife Club

Really good haul Charlie. Mighty fine group, but my favorite has to be the IXL Bowie, but then it would be....

Thanks Rusty, and everyone who has commented. I feel lucky to have a great group nearby, and firmly invite you all to attend our monthly meetings!!:)

It would be very , very nice to have a group of people around that I , as a retired person , could have coffee and talk knives with , but that is not going to happen . It was very nice to spend some time with @Amir Fleschwund last Friday but that is not even a monthly thing . I do have 2 friends that I like to call and talk with , but they both live a long ways away . Going to the Rendezvous was a great time and we will be going again this year , so I guess that just like @mrknife , that is the closest thing to a Club that I have . You are lucky to have one waynorth waynorth .

Your profile shows you're in WI. There is a Badger Knife club that meets about once a month in Milwaukee and has a yearly show in I believe Janesville.

I know of that club and just went to the Knife Show in Janesville but I am not one to drive 45 miles to a big city for any kind of meeting . But thank you for the information my friend . Do you live in or near Wi. ????

Seems like I read some time ago that some guys were trying to start something in the Austin TX area. I don't know if they worked anything out.

I'd take you up on that and I don't think I'm all that far away. Unfortunately with my limited knowledge all I could offer is to drool all over whatever you and the others brought...

I belong to a knife club here in North Carolina, we just had our annual Knife Show this past weekend, it was fantastic! We meet once a month on Tuesday evenings, attendance usually runs somewhere between 20 to 35 people. Anyone in the area who is interested, it's Tarheel Cutlery Club, they have both a website and a Facebook page.

I live MO, but my in-laws are in Milwaukee. We get there about once a year. I've toyed with the idea of making an in-law/Janesville show weekend, but it hasn't come about yet. We have a cousin in Janesville that works at the candy factory we could see as well. Is it a good show? Usually a good show means an active club, it may be worth the drive in better weather.

I am not an expert on knife shows and I have only been going for the last 3 years , but I have enjoyed it every time .

I posted messages announcing the show in the "Community Center" here on Bladeforums on February 2, and posted a follow up on February 16, so I was trying to get the word out.

From the club website:
"Tar Heel Cutlery Club meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Miller Park Recreation Center at 400 Leisure Lane, Winston Salem, NC."

The next meeting is April 24th.

rje58, I'm not far from Winston. Sorry I did not hear about the show.

Wow Charlie that Ibberson is something else .

I am very fortunate to have not one but, two knife groups in my area that I am a member of. There is the Bunker Hill Knife Club in Bunker Hill, IL that meets the first Sunday of the month and the Gateway Area Knife Club in St. Louis, Mo that meets on the second Thursday of each month. In addition to the monthly meetings each group has an annual show. If anyone in the area is interested in either of these groups hit me up with a message & I can try to help you out with more info.

I am still sort of the young buck in these groups (I'm 49 years young :D) but, I really enjoy the get togethers and have developed friendships far past the knives. Generally, I enjoy the knives I get at the meetings more than a lot of the ones I pick up on-line or at retail stores. Whenever I carry the knives from my meetings it really makes me think of the person/group vs. a PayPal transaction.

Carrying this one today (a small GEC SFO I helped but together for the Bunker Hill Club a couple of years ago):

Great news, rje58 and pearl12291! The more knife clubs around, the better!!

TXjohn, I wish there was a knife club in the Austin area! I live about 40 miles east and would love to have the opportunity to sit down with like-minded knife lovers!
