A Long Lost Friend

It only took one glance at the Bugout for my wife to say something about it. She likes the blue scales.

Sabre, let me know if you and the missus would like to kick the tires on the 535. I'll send it out for y'all to play with for a few.

I lose knives from time to time but I lost a Ka-Bar hunting knife a friend gave me a few years ago and it’s driving me crazy. Since it was sentimental I never took it anywhere or used it hard but one day it just disappreared.

It’s like it was stolen out of my house but I doubt it was. My dog(at the time, he’s passed now) would have went apeshit, there would have been a mess of some sort. Plus, other more valuable things were never stolen. Like my guns or my son’s video game systems. The knife just, vanished.

When we moved, most of my knife collection got left behind in storage, due to import regs, and local laws, so I started carrying more SAKs and such. It really did re-calibrate how I carry. I also live right near an ocean and most of my camping involves the salt in some way, so 1095 is no longer the great and wonderful thing it once was. Suddenly I find myself looking at serrated H1 and stuff like 3V to take over. But ya know, it works just fine.

That is a very kind of you. Thank you.

Well, I spoke with my wife and she didn't say "No." That's encouraging. Plus, I'd love to kick tires on a 535!

However, I have way too many branding irons in the fire to comfortably entertain the thought of another knife, right now. If I took you up on your offer, I would just be window shopping, nothing more. In 2016-17, my wife has been off work for over seventeen months, between a bum shoulder and a broken arm. To make matters worse her Subaru Forester needs transmission work. Plus, my Mazda has over 300K on the odometer and needs to be put out to pasture. And, we won't even discuss my motorcycle. No new knives for me until next summer, at least.

Maybe later, if the offer is still on the table when we are ready.

Thanks again. Like I said, a very kind offer on your part.
