I purchased a Teflon Coated Liner Lock Folder #DZ-6114-AN (http://www.estoremanager.com/deltaz...roductID=394856) from Deltaz-knives.com and figured I would share my findings.

First off, the sale price was only $24.50! This is one of the better deals that I have come across for some time. Overall, this is a solid EDC folder. The 3.25 inch blade on mine was very sharp right out of the box. The blade is etched "440 Stainless" but I don't know what kind of 440. The anodized handles are evenly finished in a matte black. The handle is relieved for easy access to the knurled thumb stud and the blade opens smoothly. The lockup is nice and solid, which is something that I have found lacking on a few others that I have recently looked at. I tried to get it to close by smacking it hard on a 2x4, but it would not budge. The pocket clip attaches by two screws and the pivot. It seems pretty secure. This knife fits my hand well…not too big and not too small.

I do have two complaints. The pocket clip is very shinny. It appears to be chromed. This makes for a durable finish, but stands out too much when riding in the pocket, especially against dark pants. This was very noticeable against my dark navy-blue uniform pants. Also, the tip of the blade comes down on top of the metal spacer at the end. This is eventually going to dull the tip of the blade.

I also purchased an Osprey, G-10. Very nice! I'm interested to see what other knives Delta Z comes out with later. I'm a happy customer!

Thanks for the review.

What I would be interested in is how well do they heat-treat their steels? Properly hardened 440A (which it probably is since the letter is not displayed) can actually hold it's edge for quite a time (while I have to admit that this steel is nothing great or special), but who knows how much effort they put into their heat-treatment?

Wow, that is one great sale, I almost want to get one just for the deal-you can't go wrong for $24.50 :D

It said on their site that the steel is rated 56-58 HRC if that answers your question(I don't know if this says anything about thier heat treating processes) about the same as AUS6, which isn't too bad.:)

I bought one of the bone handled tantos a while back. Overall a nice knife, pretty classy looking with the bone. I only have one gripe and that is I can't take the thing apart because the scales are pinned on. Other than that, can't be beat for 24 bucks.

BTW,the blade steel is 440A which most people will cry about, but I find to take a wicked sharp edge, doesn't hold for real long, but a few strokes on the sharpmaker brings it back. And, of course, with all of the 440 series steels, is super stainless.

Also,in case you missed it, DeltaZ is going out of business. They are closing everything out even cheaper! I just bought 2 more.

I was bummed out when I was able to get the Delta Z folder's liner lock to fail. It stayed locked when using a 2x4. The modified test I now used was to smack the back of the blade on a thick magazine on my desk. It easily failed on every attempt.

Eric - let me get this right, you hit the back of the blade w/ a 2x4 and it held, but you hit it w/ a thick magazine and it failed? what did you use to hold the knife in place?

Sorry I wasn't clearer in my explanation. Testing was initially done by placing the 2x4 on my desk, just to protect the desk surface. I grasped the knife in a fashion so that my hand was not in the path of the closing blade. The knife was locked open and then I struck the blade (non-sharpened side) against the 2x4. Later, I repeated the test, but didn't have the 2x4 handy so I padded the desk surface with a magazine (paper type). On the second test the liner lock failed on each attempt and the blade folded in.
