A lot of pix from Keith.

Thanks for the praise, Rog. I'm just a hack craftsman, I swear. I do it for fun, teaching myself and learning the 'riddle of steel' as I go.

Pic 1 is an establishing shot of the A&A Shifford viking sword, blued.
Pic 2 is the ricasso/forte area of a Kris cutlery Baselard. Etched, with copper inlay from a copper sulfate solution.

#3 is the other side of the Shifford Viking, with silver scale pattern in blueing.

#4 is the fill pic of the Baselard. I tried to put the flaming "X" etch right on the Center of Percussion, kind of a hidden visual cue for targeting.

Thanks, Bill. I'll hop in as tour guide in a few,to let you all know what you're seeing there in the pics...

#5 - Detail of the scabbard I made for the A&A Shifford Viking. kydex lined leather, for in-scabbard storage and frictionless draw. sewn and copper riveted for strength and safety. Note the face on the interlace pattern. Design runs 30 inches on the scabbard.

#6 - Etching then Blueing on a Kirby D. Wise dagger. Veritas Vincit (Truth Conquers) is the Scottish clan Keith motto. Handle is elk antler, still in the works for spiral wire inlay.

#7 & #8 - Detail of the elk antler handle carving and copper pin inlay of the seax blade, depicted earlier. I manufactured about 80 pins for this piece. each of the "S" shaped patterns near the edges of the grip have six pins apiece. Each view is showing you about 20-30 pins.
I will be doing a wire inlay with pins design on the horn handle of my AK, just because it will really match the brass fittings and contrast well with the dark horn.

Thanks all, for letting me share.

Keith, the temporarily impoverished.

Keith you're a real craftsman and coming from me that's saying a lot.:)
Very nice work!!!!

Coming from someone who has been around the block a few times, It certainly means a bunch to me that you would rate this so highly. Sincere thanks, Yvsa.

Let me know if there is any work I could do for the designer of the revered YCS.

I'll be back tomorrow AM if there are any Q's re: these, or the processes I used.

Hasta manana,

Keith, the impoverished hack-craftsman.

Is it electroplated or is there are purely chemical process during an etching?

Keith,

As a 'hack craftsman' you put a lot of so-called craftsmen to shame. Very good work indeed.
