• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

A lot of questions on sharpening (Post will be long)

Sounds good. As I know people normally take very good care of leather, is there anything I'm supposed to be putting on my strop to keep it in good condition? Like an oil or something?

One of our resident members, well-versed in all things leather, has highly recommend a product called Lexol Leather Conditioner. I actually picked some up a while back, but haven't cracked the seal on it yet. I'm sure it's fine. I think some basic mineral oil might do also, or maybe mink oil or something similar. I've used mineral oil with compounds before, and that'll soak in and keep the leather pretty supple for a long time.

You might look around at the links you found online for the model of strop you're using. Some of those vendors might recommend a conditioner for the strops.

This was listed on one of the sites. Apparently it's made by the same company

That 'Fromm' name sounds familiar. I think they have a good rep in such things. Searching a little bit on the web, I came across this post on another forum. The post references the exact same strop you have (Illinois #127), and what he's done with his. He mentions the Lexol Conditioner in his post, among others. Might be worth a look.
