A Loveless Tribute in pictures

These are some awesome knives. That one in the middle of the three that Dave Ellis posted last kills me..

Thanks for starting this thread, Dave, and everyone else who contributed.
A fine tribute to the greatest knifemaker and designer that ever lived.

Here are two of Bob's amazing subhilts that to my eyes
are as-close-to-perfection-as-can-be...

Here is a one-of-a-kind set with a one-of-a-kind maker's mark,
made by Bob for his good friend the Italian collector Luigi Peppini.

All the best,

Thank you very much !

I just love those two from David's The Great Collections 2007. Awesome knives.

David (Ellis) you are a very very lucky man to have so many of Bob's knives.

Here's my first which I have posted before. I received a Dixon Fighter last Saturday which handle material is very similar to the New Orleans Special below. I will post Coop's photo after he's finished.

Thats beautiful Kevin.

Those are actually green micarta, both are rare 1/2 tangs with micarta pins, amazingly light!

Here are two pictures that Edmund Davidson took when visiting
Bob Loveless in August 1985...

Here are three Bob Loveless knives from the collection
of Pierluigi Peroni (Italy).

Of special interest is the top knife. As it is a one-of-a-kind...
Here is its description from my book:

“Pro Hunter”, 1995
A unique multi-grind hunting knife design. A “non catalogue” knife very rarely
produced by Bob and only on specific request by the customer.
The main characteristics of this blade are its differential thickness, being very thin
in the front part, close to the knife’s point, and very thick in its rear section, close to the guard.
The blade’s grinds are in fact concave in one section and convex in the other.
These characteristics make this a multi-tasking hunting knife as it is possible to use it
both for delicate and accurate jobs while skinning and also for heavy duty jobs like
breaking bones or cutting through hard joints in big game.
The knife has a burgundy micarta handle with finger grooves, a Riverside signature
logo and a stainless steel guard.
Overall length 8 7/16” (214 mm).

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)
