A Memory in the making?

Thanks , LT. I can't speak for anyone else, but loyalty is pretty big with me, and I'm proud to say I DO own a couple Canal Street patterns and plan on more and I DO NOT own any Taylor or Pipes and plan to maintain that number.

The SMKW catalog items for the new schrades are numbered SHT (or close)
I'll add 1 letter and call it a good catalog numbering scheme.

..... This knife was never put into production by Schrade Cutlery. The knife, a Farriers knife, was built on a 8OT frame. It features durable Sawcut Delrin handles, Nickel Silver bolsters, Brass pins and liners and Carbon Steel blades. The blades consist of a hoofpick, leather punch, can opener, and two clip points.........

Sigh.
The dribbling of the collection has begun. And so has the screwey descriptions.

And I thought they had a "Steve Koontz, Vice president of the Collectibles". Is this going to be a rerun of Monty Python's Knights who say "Neeh"?

Excuse me for bringing this old thread back, but I just had a short, very short correspondence with the folks at Smokey. I simply made a statement in the 'Ask Seller a question':
I sure do hate to see this great collection broken up.

Item name: ANTIQUE SCHRADE CUT.CO.SLEEVEBOARD PEN KNIFE.MINT
Item number: 6573963821

In return, I got this answer:

"Well, what do you expect us to do with it?"

How about having Mr Pipes keep his word to keep it together or at least offer it intact back to those he had promised to offer a chance to buy it back. Don't tell anyone though, you see that was a secret. Man to man you have my word sort of thing. It was not me but, it was one of the reasons I did not outbid him for the whole thing you see I knew I could not keep it intact. Also he did not make this offer to me however, I do believe he did make it.

It is his he can do as he wishes with it. but if he really wants some advice or suggestions on what to do with it I would be happy to offer some suggestions. In fact I would be happy to assist him in getting in the right position to expedite his placing these items in the appriopriate area for proper dissimination of his property.

I would have been happy to play him one hand of showdown for the whole collection against 125 grand just what he paid. Unfortunately I still would have to sell it so it really dosen't matter. At least I would have been upfront about it. Seems like he is developing some Chinese traits ( for doing business ) from some of his knife suppliers. LT

Yes, LT, I was under the impression the collection was going to be kept intact, which is one reason I made my statement to the Smokey seller. As I recall, the Case Collection was kept in one (more or less) peice after Jim Parker sold it to Smokey, and once again it is at the factory, the Zippo people buying it back.

Just sorry to see it go like this.

manyplews is a potential buyer.

Why are you breaking up this great collection? How about having Mr Pipes keep his word to keep it together or at least offer it intact back to those he had promised to offer a chance to buy it back?

Well, if the factory collection was to be kept together, I would have thought this knife would not have been sold. See completed ebay # 6573208982. My father hand scrimshawed this Barlow (with smooth bone handles) to be displayed in the factory museum at the time. Also, see the completed sale of the 1,000,000th LB7 ebay # 6571323542.

No Tom they have made it quite apparent that they are selling it. check the archives and you will see we have been hashing it about since it started. I hope you are well . I just got that Case blade a few minutes ago. LT

Must be particularly hard for you to watch this, Tom. As well as for your father. I did an Ebay deal with him not long ago, he is a real gentleman.
