I wanted to put spacers on a full tang knife but thought that if the epoxy ever broke down the spacers could jar loose so I came up with this idea. First epoxy 1.5 inch x 5 inch strips of spacer. I used brass, nickel and black spacers. Second, grind the stack flush. Third, drill a 1/16 " hole near the center edge so that when the scales are shaped you will not grind into a pin. Fourth, mark and cut the spacers. Fifth, epoxy the spacers to the scales. Sixth, Drill into the spacer hole at least 1/4 " and put in a piece of rod stock and tap it home. Next, cut the extra rod with cutting pliers and grind the pin flush carefully so as not to thin the first spacer. Now finish your knife. These spacers should never ever work loose pinned this way.
