A mid September Sunday hike...

Hi!

@ Mete: :) I am also passionate about cooking and the regional cuisine it’s another of my hobbies! I find shopping for food/specialities in villages old shops and farmers’ markets and preparing/cooking food very funny and relaxing :). Family is always happy when I cook and this also gratifies me in this so, when at home, I happily take the cooking chores. I can do like this: I see there is a place here in the sub-forum “Activities, Training & Skills Development” dealing with food/cooking. When I have some time, I will post some translation of recipes and pics of the dishes there. I try to avoid this because, lately, at least here, it’s just too much about food! People in the restaurants take pics of what they eat and post it, food blogs have multiplied, TV commercials are full of food/eating stuff, big chefs are everywhere in talk-shows, etc. a bit too much! But OK, I’ll try to post something about Bergamo Province traditional food (even if I was born and raised in Milano… :D).

@ Bugs57: Yes, it is :). In one way it’s not a bad thing. Alpine lakes, torrents and brooks are a rather “fragile” ecosystem. But don’t worry, for tourists it’s simpler :p. I fished a lot when I was a kid, my Grandpa was an avid fly-fisher. Truly relaxing, I agree!

@ Lambertiana: You are very right and good eye ! From a geological perspective, this area presents very interesting characteristics: Mt. Alben is the only massif of the Bergamo Pre-Alps where it’s possible to observe all the stages of formation and evolution of the Norian carbonate platforms, ancient coral reefs that, 200 million years ago, in a subtropical sea, have produced these sediments that make up the current rocks. That’s also the reason why these rocky outcrops really look – even to laymen like me – more like reef-rocks rather than “mountain” rocks :).

Beautiful photos as always! I always wish I could step into some of your shots and disappear there for a few weeks! :)
