“If we shadows have offended,
Know but this and all is mended.
That you have but slumbered here,
While these visions did appear,
And this weak and idle lark,
No more yielding, but a snark.”

Ah, a literate snark. Such a pleasant surprise.

I've always wondered what "midsummer" meant, exactly. Since the summer solstice is right around July 21st and the autumnal equinox is right around Sept 23rd... that means we're a bit early for mid-summer, yes?

Or no. I'm not really up on that stuff. Regardless, it was a remarkably pleasant and mild day in our neck of the woods today, and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. :)

Hard work sure does help make the blues go away. Worked on my little pram this evening, removing 50 years worth of oxidation. I used one of those scrub pads. Not done yet, but looks a lot better.

You can see how bad it is. I know it looks like dirt, but it isn't. Lots of scrubbing to get that off:

Not sure yet. That after photo makes it look a lot better than it actually is, haha. The flash hid the scrub marks.

My fil bought this boat around 1963, the same year I was born. He purchased it at Sears. I did some research, and found out that Angler Boat Company, out of Penn Yan, New York, built boats from the early 50's, to the early 60's. They built these for Sears, calling them The ELGIN. They also made them for Montgomery Wards, calling them the Sea King. My fil said it was made out of aircraft aluminum, but the add actually says, " ELGIN aluminum boats with modern jet airliner construction". It was billed as a 9' pram, actually being 8' 10 1/2". It weighs 74lbs, and will take up to a 3hp motor. Elgin actually made boat motors too. I have found a few on Craigslist. I'll probably end up getting one for it, but for now, I bought my local lake sticker, and water usage permit. Got my pfd's, and am ready to go.
