You are right James! Today was a ridiculously nice day. Really cool for summer time (80s). Took the kiddos out to the "urban wilderness" park area. Little piece of town they have sectioned off and put in some hiking/biking/running trails, and it all goes around a little pond. The kids and I hiked for a lot further and longer than I anticipated, just started walking and let our feet lead us. My daughter collected little nature odds and ends for her "artwork" lol. We had a real good time, and they loved it. Fantastic way to spend an afternoon.
On a side note I have been wanting a 32oz nalgene bottle holder for awhile, well I was looking at my AK47 Mag pouch/bag a couple days ago, and then I modified it into something perfect. It has dividers in it to accommodate the mags, so I separated two of those to allow room for my bottle, and that left another divider that works perfectly for a knife, food, other gear, and it'll all still work for mags. Plus the two outer pouches fit some other gear too! The larger pouch that is for the AK oil/solvent can, fits a little tin with some gear in it, and the other small one for the cleaning kit fits a small flashlight and SAK cadet really well. I gave it a coat of wax and wore it yesterday and today while out bumming around and I really like it. It'll get better/more use this way than if it was just a dedicated mag pouch.

I've always wondered what "midsummer" meant, exactly. Since the summer solstice is right around July 21st and the autumnal equinox is right around Sept 23rd... that means we're a bit early for mid-summer, yes?
Or no. I'm not really up on that stuff. Regardless, it was a remarkably pleasant and mild day in our neck of the woods today, and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.
Solstice is actually June 21ish so we're pretty dang close - if that's what "midsummer" refers to. Not very mild in this neck of the woods. Just hot. Which I believe is the what "August" translates from Caddo into. It was a good day to be indoors while the sun was shining - though I did think I saw a cloud at one point.

The weather was freaking hot today, especially for ND. I think I saw that we topped out at 97°. Looks like we will have the heat until Sunday and the you southerners can have it back.
Was supposed to look at an outboard motor that I saw on Craigslist today, but the guy kinda flaked out on me. Excuses about this and that. Said I coukd look at it tomorrow and he would let me know when sometime tonight. Almost 10 and nothing. Guess I'll see what tomorrow brings.
