A minor mystery (at least to me)

It will be several weeks before I can get started, but judging by that picture I am committed to try at least one to see how it goes...and yes, I do like drop point blades ;)

Sorry 110, But...

I have one from 2004 but my BIL borrowed it and immediately broke the very tip end off the blade. I reground it and it looks OK, but I don't use it anymore....don't like that it sticks up above the pocket edge when clipped in....

Just me speculating, probably wrong...

I'm guessing that someone at Buck found the surplus handes, inner parts, and possibly left-over blades (or blade blanks) that weren't stamped. Stamp the year the knife was assembled, put the knife together, and you have a 2011 model 422.

I was comparing blades on that custom 112 and the 442. They are made out of a different steel but the same shape. I then compared the 442 to this years club drop point 112 and they are different. I wonder if the paperstone drop points will be like the 442 or be like the club knife.

They (both club 112's) appear to me to have the same 442 design blade. The third 112 is a collaboration of Wild Bill and David Yellowhorse and has the regular 112 clip point blade.

Sometimes 'not in the catalog' does not mean fully 'discontinued', as is the case here
