A Modern Gentlemen's Knife that doesn't break the bank?

At work I generally carry a slipjoint but my wife wants me to buy a knife as a V-Day gift and I'm looking for something a little more modern. I honestly don't use a knife a lot at work but I like to have one on me. I would like something that doesn't go over $100 because it won't see a ton of use. Right now I am looking at Al Mar and the LionSteel Opera.

Any others in the $100 or less category that I'm missing?

Specs I'm looking for:

3 inch blade length (or less)
Micarta, G10, or wood handles.
Slim and thin

No Spyderco's. I don't really care for the spydie hole.

EDIT:

Went ahead and spent the coin on the Benchmade 485 Valet. I appreciate everyone's recommendations and I looked long and hard at several options.

What about something like a Buck Vantage rosewood model # 0346RWS for less than $50?
I think they look pretty nice and classy.

That LionSteel Opera looks like a nice knife to me. Do you have more specific criteria? Blade length, thumstud, pocketclip, handle material, etc??

The Benchmade 530 is an excellent cutter, deceptively strong and very lightweight. I batoned one through a small tree once as an experiment; it passed the test with flying colors.

The Maserin Atti looks promising (I don't own one though.) Gorgeous looking folder with S35VN steel for just under $100...

Good luck, OP! :)

Only because you didn't specify blade steel, I'm going to recommend the Kershaw chill. 3" blade, G10 handles, very thin and light, and a pretty good non assisted flipper.

MCusta......a perfect modern day Gentleman's Knife......thin, choice of handle materials, VG10 Laminated, Seki City Made, liner lock or frame lock and 3.75 " OAL to 4.25" OAL with prices ranging from $94 - $108 and higher......

Here's an example 4.37", Damascus and VG 10 composite steel at $105

+1 on the Mcusta ... here's one in Quince wood is smooth to open and the blade is VG-10 takes a very sharp edge
they are right around that $100.00 to $120.00 can be bought without pocket clip and a small pocket pouch

The Opera is a very nice knife, and the handle scale options are great too.

CRKT Eros the Ti version is a fun little knife and a perfect letter opener. :) The steel version would do the job as well.

EDIT: Nevermind, just noticed you wanted micarta, g10 or wood.

le Theirs Chambriard compact. I can't post a pic right now, but it is a beaut and, like the opera, it's available in a variety of scales. I have the amourette (snakewood) and love it, even more than my previous favorite, the opera in olivewood. Definitely worth a google or look at worldknives site (I believe it is OK to mention them since I'm unaware of any other domestic dealer carrying them.

True that. But as you pointed out, they're very cool little knives. I carry one every day in the coin compartment of my wallet. It's my backup EDC. :)
