Thanks d0nut! I'm not big on the Spydiehole though.

I am sorry about that, sir. Spyderco folders are about as good as they get, and the hole is just there for your use, and you will completely forget it after a bit.
The Chaparral is an excellent suggestion, or perhaps a Sage 1 or a Caly 1, both about your price top.

Spyderco des horn?

Also a fan of the Kizer 4419 in s35, it's got a 3.5" blade though.

The CRKT Eros has a ultra-lightweight titanium frame with a IKBS ball bearing pivot and is a very sharp knife.

I agree with GatorFlash1...if you want a true gentlemanly knife the Spyderco Air at around $140 is the way to go. I've carried one for about a year now and it's a gem I won't go anywhere without.

Mcusta nami is one that I just found out about and will be getting for myself very soon! Looks like an awesome knife for roughly 100.

How about the boker eskellibor, they make it with several different handles, I've got a g10 that I've carried off and on that's fantastic, and just picked up the decade edition in carbon fiber and vg-10

The Maserin Atti looks promising (I don't own one though.) Gorgeous looking folder with S35VN steel for just under $100...

Good luck, OP! :)

I'm not a fan of liner locks, but Wife bought me one of these. And wow! Silky-smooth action, top-notch build quality, and the briar wood is stunning. Just over $100 from AG Russell.

Have a look at Fallkniven folders. Great classic lines, phenomenal steels( 3G & Lam Co ) with excellent edge holding, very pocketable. Custom quality in a production folder. My favorite at the moment is the GP model. Good luck with your search.

Really surprised nobody has mentioned the Spyderco Centofante III, sure it has FRN scales but other than that it has everything you're looking for, 3" blade, classy, good steel, $60.

Micarta, G10, or would handles.

I wouldn't recommend black plastic to anyone looking for a "gentleman's knife."

The A.G. Russell Titanium Button Lock or the Boker Plus Titanium Blues Button Lock are both pretty nice.

I love spyderco and the spydie hole, but they are ugly as sin.

Mcusta is a good option as others have mentioned.

The Kershaw Skyline in s30v and carbon fiber would be my choice.

If carbon fiber isn't your thing, or you don't care about the blade steel, you can get the plane jane skyline for half the price and have someone make you some custom scales in wood or whatever tickles your fancy.
