What has happened? Have we actually trained children to kill strangers without remorse?
Virginia Tech - today - the worst mass shooting in US history. 33 dead.
A moment of silence, please.

Lord, please help those families in their time of need and darkest hour.

Prayers for the families for this action.

My thoughts are if we could at least send the energy to numb them from a pain that most of us can’t even imagine in order to help them somehow get through the days ahead

A terrible tragedy. I've been on that campus. It seems such an unlikely place for something like this to happen. You never know.

I guess I was wrong. We didnt raise the shooter, he was from South Korea.
About two hours ago, the Mayor of Nagasaki was shot twice in the back.
(Yes, shootings happen in Japan regularly)
the world is a dangerous place.

Here's a question I don't know.

They said this claimant was a legal resident alien?

Now as far as his nationality I don't really think it's an issue, but I was wondering: They said he had a receipt in his backpack for a Glock he had bought last month. Are non citizens allowed to own and buy guns in the US??

Smoke and prayers for the families

On the contrary - We did raise him. We are one species.

Blessings to those families and friends.

Yes, as long as they have valid ID, their immigration paperwork is current and they have a hunting liscense. I plan on taking one of our Indian student workers to the range in the next couple weeks so that he can try different types of guns and decide what he likes.

Brothers and Sisters, let us take a moment to celebrate Liviu Librescu. He survived the Holocaust and gave his life helping his students escape.

Quoted:

Students of Liviu Librescu, 76, a holocaust survivor who was an engineering science and mathematics lecturer at Virginia Tech for 20 years, sent e-mails to his wife, Marlena, telling of how he blocked the gunman's way and saved their lives, said the son, Joe.

"My father blocked the doorway with his body and asked the students to flee," Joe Librescu said in a telephone interview from his home outside
of Tel Aviv. "Students started opening windows and jumping out."

He had a green card and was living in the US for 14 years. According to VA law, he was a US citizen with the right to purchase firearms (no previous felony convictions).

Smoke for Liviu Librescu and everyone else who was affected. That someone acted so quickly and selflessly restores a bit of my faith in humanity.

Thanks for the info.

So karma would say that the old Jewish fellow who survived the Holacaust survived for a reason.

Words fail me in the face of this latest failure of humanity.

Prayers for the lost- and we all lost someone in Virginia.
