A morbid poll -- if you were facing a firing squad would you take the blindfold?

That's the question. Don't ask my why this came into my mind -- it just blew in from somewhere.

I'd not want the blindfold and would ask for a last cigarette and pray while I was smoking it.

Maybe watching CNN and seeing the report on that poor reporter getting his throat cut prompted this. I'd rather get the firing squad.

No blindfold. I'd want to see it coming. Last cigarette? For sure. That's one way to quit.

Personally I think a blind-fold would make facing a firing squad more terrifying and not less. I think the use of blind-folds for this sort of thing originates from beheadings; to stop the victim from seeing the expression of the 'audience' when the executioner raised the blade....definitely take a last smoke though ;)

so can do something you'll be able to only once in your life--Spit in the face of death. :p :p :D

No blindfold for me. They'll have to be real men or grow a set in a hurry and look me in the eye while they pull the trigger. I hope at least one of the firing party was allowed to learn the art of the rifle ( harder and harder to find people like these nowadays) and he puts his bullet where it counts. A solid Central Nervous system hit--Like turning off a light. Of course, a nice, pre-Castro, Montectristo "A" would be the cigar of choice, and I'd hope they'd let me smoke it down before they smoke me down!

Out of my own morbid fascination, I'd have to watch.

Also, I'd want to see everything I could until that last instant.

PS: I might just see a way out of it!

Always thought the blindfold would suck- I beleive its more for the excutioners than the victim. Last cigarette- self-rolled and as strong as possible. No need to worry about lung damage.

What? And miss the fun?

You should be able to see the bullets if they are coming straight at you. Watch carefully.

I think it would be much more terrible to be put to sleep with drugs. Just like going to sleep, and I would miss out on the final great experience.

No blindfold, I'd pick somebody and try to stare him down.

Fow what it's worth, when they executed Mati Hari, 8 out of the 12 hand picked marksmen missed her completely.

Completely off the subject, but somehow it fits, today is the 94th of an absolute max of 120 days for the sheriff to issue my CCW permit.

No blindfold. Let me look upon this life until the last second before I cross to the next.

Yeah, and I'll take that smoke too.

Compared to other ways to go, say burning at the stake. A firing squad seems quick and painless. I think I'll make my decision when I get there.

Umm... what did I do again?

No blindfold here either. I'd much rather face up to death than use a blindfold and pretend it was not there.

The killing of that reporter was an extremely senseless act and will certainly result in a hardening of attitudes against the cause that these terrorists were fighting for. I for one have no sympathy for anyone who would kill innocents as a way to resolve their issues. In such a case, I would approve of Yvsa's method of torture towards people like these..

Nope. ... no blindfold. I'll pass on the smoke to (those things will kill ya, doncha know).

I think I'd take a beer instead. ... and take my time drinking it :)

No Blindfold--I want em to remember my eyes for the rest of their lives--see em when they try to sleep at night.

Do I have a vindictive side? Nah!
