A most expensive purchase

Some of you may remember a few weeks ago when I delurked to post about finding a spydie civilian for five bucks at a flea market. Well the rush from that find has apparently started a chain reaction resulting in KNIFE FEVER. Before that knife the only blade I bought in the last year was a mini socom, unless you count a leatherman. After the civie, everything from a dragonfly to a sebenza has made it into my fevered little hands. I've bought knives I didn't particularly want, just because they were a good deal. I find myself hoping the next knife comes well packaged so I can cut something. I have a bandaid on my finger from doing a one hand close too fast. My basement smells like Tuf Cloth.
I also find myself going to the forums several times a day. Sometimes its for a dose of Shmackey's good humor, or to see Razoredj tear somebody a usually well deserved new one, and doing it while using a unique smilie. Other times to check new sale items, just in case. Most of you are a great source of knowledge, and you keep the fever burning.
That five dollar knife has cost me hundreds. Am I sorry? Nope. Do I need help? Maybe.;)

Shucks, you make a guy feel less than anonymous.

Seriously, you're experiencing the same problem experienced by anyone who allows themselves to get a taste for tools and weapons. That's why most gun owners never stop at just one gun, either. (For that matter, just as knife owners accumulate folders in that quest for the perfect knife, your average gun owner has a drawer full of holsters accumulated in that quest for the perfect carry rig. I know I have such a pile.)

Welcome to our madness! :D

if it will make you feel any better, rest assured, it will only get WORSE! ;)

For me it started out about 1 year ago with one of those china cheapies. It was a green marble handle balisong. It only cost $5.00. I won't say how much money later I am at, but here's my collection only one year later......:eek::eek:

Razor does have a way with words doesn't he?

Once you get the knife fever, you can never shake it....

What's REALLY bad is when you have 2 of the SAME knife. (I have 6 of these "sets".:D.).

Gary, its a never ending roller coaster road for the rest of your life. Don't try to stop it, as you can see we all failed :) Buy, buy, buy and never stop buying.... :)

Oh, yeah, it gets worse, or better. :) I've always collected knives, but since I found this forum a few months ago my buying habits have accelerated exponetially. I am now one knife away from having all the various Falkniven blades, I've entered the dark and tempting world of Busse Combat (can't wait for my Satin Jack!), I added two more Doziers, a large Sebenza, several Benchmades, a slip joint, a Big Country Kampr, a couple of local customs, a kukri, and the list goes on. My next foray will be into Spyderco (can you believe I don't own even one) and I am saving up for a Mayo after I get a Battle Mistress. So don't be alarmed, your addiction is perfectly normal and healthy. ;) And oh, I must order a balisong soon. Got to learn to work that knife, just got to.

I knew you guys would understand. And Glockman, if having more than one version of the same knife counts as a set, then I have one. My first hundred dollar knife was the BF blue native. Last week, I bought a native lightweight that I thought I would use more. Crazy about that knife, but I don't think its as sheeple friendly as some of the forumites.

So having more then one of the same knife is bad?

All I know is that I've been spending a LOT more money since I discovered these forums.

You can also try the Swedish brand EKA. They make a small folder in 18K gold. I bought the Sterling Silver version, to see what it is first...

The wife thinks I'm nuts to keep buying all those knives. First it was production stuff, then expensive production stuff and now I've gotten into customs... Glad I'm not the only one with more knives that I can use in this lifetime
