HI All....
Has anybody else ever seen one of these before?

Thx, Doc

PS: The fact that this is an ebay link in No Way indicates, implies or otherwise means I have anything to do with the item, seller or ebay.
It is ONLY for information on the HI Knife listed in the ebay ad.

EDIT - No worries Doc, I know you weren't being sneaky, but if one of the supermods saw it you'd get an infraction. I had actually forgot about these really cool swords. Thanks for bringing it up.

But it makes me appreciate the Masters we still have at Bir Gorkha all the more. :D

What a great 'find' DocH!

It is a work of beauty and purpose.

Oh if the Kami's should restart production of this design without beefing it up too much as they seem to do with so many of the current versions of older models?

Thanks MUCH, Ted!!
The LAST thing I want to do is get an infraction, or otherwise commit a no-no.

I appreciate You "fixing" the post!!
Ed

Just finished looking @ ALL of the links You posted Ted!!
Thanks Much for the education, and for the chance to Enjoy all of the different HI Blades...Wow!!

Yes, many thanks Ted for the links. And to tjarlz as well.

However, after viewing the photo's which were available, this example of the 'Yin Yang' is the one that appeals to me the most.;)

All said and done, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder?":D

Most of the current stuff is thinner then older models. There are some 1" thick stuff still floating around. :)

Yin / Yan sword as Ted said. Mine is 20.5" OAL and 30 oz. and is all horn. Just before that one sold there was a great horn / antler combo one that was very neat work. FYI the first one made had quite a bit more hand work and engraving on the brass IIRC.

Just checked and the horn / antler is Ted's second link of the three. Mine was the last link.

I appreciate your greater experience but I see in todays dotd 17.5 inch 34 ounce M-43 by Sher; I recently missed out on a 2005 Sher M43 17inch 28ounce ...

My 2005 Sher 17inch Foxy Folly is 23ounces ...compare that to recent offerings ...well you can't as the weight and spine thickness has well and truly gone "industrial!"

There has always been a mix of heavy and light (relative) between the same model, that's part of what makes each kukri unique. Some blades work well in certain weights and don't do very well in other weights (most agree that the magic number for most 18" kukris is 28oz). In general though stuff offered today is lighter then the old stuff (back when HI started). Some kamis also put more weight in their knives then others.

Skyler R: your quote belongs in the new sticky " Recommendation? First Khukuri- Recommendations and Reasons"

It is the best and clearest explanation of this 'hidden' and not well explained info I have read !

someone outbid me ...

That was me putting in the first bid. I was planning to swoop down in the waning seconds & bid up.... but then I changed my mind. I figure I'll just buy here because through Yangdu funds roll to the kamis. Very Obamistic of me in a "spread the wealth" kinda way, eh?
