A Nest of Vipers!!

I don't own a Viper per se, but I do have a swayback wharncliffe. I asked Bret Dowell to make me this one because I needed a proper gent's knife. Ordered before ivory became verboten, this knife sports mammoth covers and cut swedges.

Thanks for all the well-loved "snakes" everyone! I see that many people like this pattern of swayback/wharncliffe combo!!
And many people like last years BF Viper!! It could be the most-carried forum knife!!!
(pure conjecture of course!!)
And I forgot I had this one - once known as a swayback, now a Viper!! Heh!!
Welcome to the Nest!!🤣

A Viper by any other name . . . . .!!😊

Before the recent lambsfoot renaissance, when I thought of a swayback knife the blade profile that came to mind was a wharncliffe. I know I'm in the minority, but I still prefer that combo to the swayback lambsfoot.

Nothing generic about that! That’s a beaut
If that’s generic, color me generic! Wow, those are nice Chestnut covers! 😳

I picked this one up at the Case dealer down at “The Lake” two years ago I think. It was on sale at a ridiculously low price, maybe because the covers don’t have a lot of contrast or the small blemish on the shield. Either way, I really like it and it looks better in person. 😉👍View attachment 1609904
Edit: forgot the picture
Thanks, guys. :)
Todd, that's some superb jigged bone on your Swayback Jack!:cool::cool:

I’ve had a couple of the GEC 47 (Micarta and Stag) and sold them both. Lovely to look at, but…. slightly too big for me IMO and felt a bit awkward in my hand. The BF 2020 knife is better yet, and I carried it daily for a good 6 months. For the last three weeks I’ve been carrying my old Swayback Jack in Case CV steel. What a great knife! It comes very, very close to the platonic ideal of a pocket knife.

Thanks, guys. :)

Thanks Gary, I remember thinking when I bought it that I must be missing something because it was really cheap, but I like it so I don’t really care!😄

That’s a great trio of Vipers, Charlie!

Here’s a pair of GEC #47 Vipers from (I think) 2016.

The “bottle glass green” jigged bone Tidioute is one of my favorites, and has seen a lot more use than the “fancier” Northfield.

I picked up a few more from the run earlier
this year.

I was very surprised how much I liked last year’s forum knife. (I think I may have even named it my Knife of the Year in Jack Black Jack Black ’s annual thread.)

Great pictures from everyone so far. I'll have to take some pictures to share this week since it's one of my favorite patterns. I believe I have two of last years forum knife and a couple Vipers with stag covers and I have a GEC 47 in stag.

I wish I could have snagged one of those white bone 47s they look great!

Big swayback fan. My favorites shown with the gold cufflinks my grandmother bought for my grandfather 100 years ago when they got married and the pinky ring she wore as long as I can remember.

Like others, wish the GEC viper was a little smaller.
