I had a great mail call today. I've been lusting after a Ferrum Forge knife for a while due to some great photos regularly shared of them by folks I follow on Instagram. Unfortunately they cost a bit more than I'm willing to spend on one knife. Luckily I snagged this beauty for a great price. It's a Pretium (FFKW spells it Predium on their site) which was their first production/midtech knife. It's a user but not abused. The quality did not disappoint. This is a robust knife with a great flipping action. It is also easily deployed with the thumbstuds, something I wish was true about my Hinderer MP-1. This particular example (#25 of 100) was featured in Jim Skelton's Pretium video on YouTube and had an issue with the lockbar. Apparently FFKW made a new lock side scale with the over travel stop built into the steel lock face insert (like many ZTs) to fix it so it's a bit unique. It does not have a Hinderer-style stop like the other 99 Pretiums, or at least the ones I've seen photos of.
I'm hoping this quenches my thirst for a Master Blaster, not that I'll stop looking for a deal on one. It definitely makes me want to handle some other knives from FFKW. What experience do others have with their knives?
Note: This is my first attempt at using Google Photos for hosting as I migrate away from Photobucket and their insane new policies. We'll see how it goes.
I love this flinted pattern along the edges of the blade and handles.
