...not when you account for how little the average worker is paid (and other variable factors).

some prices are crazy

this knife is about 3.50usd. Its hefty and I have handled it before.

40USD is kinda steep to me, and for that price i too would prefer something with a stronger grind, had they convexed that sucker like the svord and just put a small secondary v grind that could be taken off easily to be a true blue convex then id probably be all over that, but as it stands ill pass

Baldetalk - do you see any edc fixed blades similar to the Izula, bk14 etc? I wouldnt mind expanding that section of my knife collection
for now, i still didn't see a Chinese Made knife similar to that one. maybe it will not take long time to have copy one soon. :)

i dont think convex grinds are done well on machines and lean more on grinding by hand.

they look nice, like to see an honest review of them in comparison with similar knives of better known manufacture.

I believe Svord does theirs by machine, I wouldn't imagine it taking all that much programming to do something similar, I mean hell ive written codes like that back in highschool on C++. granted it took me 20+ tries to get everything properly written but still got there lol :P

still don't have one in handle, please share your opinon

It looks like a slightly modded Recluse, an original design by Andy Roy (Fiddleback Forge) now put into production by Bark River Knife and Tool.

Again, with a few tweaks give or take.

I picked up a little Y-Start necker that was pretty impressive in its fit and finish. I didn't care for the grind on the cutting edge. It is too obtuse, even for a hollow grind, but part of that is due too the gut hook on the spine. One of these days I think I'll put it on a belt sander and see if I can improve its cutting ability.

I just want to share some beautiful knvies made in China, and would like to have foreigners' opinion about

The knife overall is very attractive, especially the natural wood handle. And at $40, it's affordable to practically anyone.

My criticism, not thrilled with the sheath. Hard to tell from the photo, but it might be "reconstituted" (not real) leather.
On the knife itself, the logo is much too large and poorly placed. A simple tang stamp would be more attractive and "classy."

Thanks for posting the pictures. I hadn't seen that knife brand before.

If it's possible, laser engrave the brand name and steel on the spine, instead of the flats of the blade. It'll give it a much cleaner appearance.

Hi. I have one of these and I want to share a couple of experiences.
I got it for 28$ (shiped included), and I decided to resharpen it on arrival. That doesn't mean that the factory sharpen was bad, I just didn't check it and did my own.
As I said I resharpen it with 45º angle (more or less) and was very easy so I ended with the feeling that the steel was very soft.

After that I went to the backyard with the knife to chop some branches (green wood). As I choped a couple of branches I found that the glaze of the handle went away in my hand. It just disspeared. I olied a bit the handle and looks nice but that was strange.
I keep chopping wood, and the next day did the same. In between I did some wood carving (making pointy sticks, etc.) and was quite well on that. The surprise is after all the chopping and the carving the blade still keeps a pretty good edge.
Don't shave anymore but other than that is just perfect (still cuts paper without problem). So... I'm perplex. Steel is easy (easier than 8Cr13MoV) to sharpen and holds an edge quite well, at least for me. And imo is quite good for an all purpose knife.

Blade length is 4.40" (113 mm.), thickness 0.196" (5 mm.) on mine, not the 0.177" (4.5 mm.) listed in other reviews (I rechecked). Weight 11.7 oz. (330 g.).

The sheath is just ugly. Does the work and holds the knife but looks soft and low quality.

I hope this will be of any help. And sorry for my english, I'm not used to write in this language.

I don't see it. I mean, the knives are similar, yeah, but not that similar.

Here's the Recluse from Fiddleback Forge:

And here's a picture I found online showing the Bark River version:

I'm not seeing a resemblance either.

Since this topic was bumped from so long ago, I'd like to reiterate my earlier opinion, I'd really like this if not for the oversized Y-Start," a name that doesn't really make sense. "Why Start"?
