Welcome to Bladeforums! If you keep posting pictures of knives like that one, you'll be a very popular guy here!

I love the combination of woods, and the blue anodized Ti really compliments the colors beautifully.

There's something missing though - a makers mark! How will be able to identify your work when we see it? How should we inquire more about your knives, knowing only that "Dave" made this one? :)

Welcome to BladeForums...
This has to be one of the best first posts ever here at BFC. (well, maybe there is an exception over at W&C;) ) What a stunning knife, I see many influences here, but I hope we will see more of your work to get the "Dakcon" look down. The combination of the two woods is fantastic and I love the blade profile.
Great first post! Keep 'em coming.

I have never seen wood combined like that before! Between that and the filework she's a real beauty. The fact it's a carbon steel blade appeals to me too. Keep 'em coming man!

Welcome and congratulations on your first post. You surely know how to make an entrance, man, I loved your knife at first sight! It is beautifully designed and crafted. Again, my compliments to you and I'm looking forward to see some other creations of yours as well.

Welcome to BladeForums, Dave. If you are going to show us more knives like this one then I am really going to enjoy checking out your posts. Very, very nice.

I'm trying to decide which I like more: The blade grind, the choice of materials, the filework and stippling on the liners and pivot, the overall shape, or the crystal-clear photo's.

I guess it's all of the above. Now quit the teasing and give us some more info and history and background. There might be folks at the ready with their checkbooks, round these parts. ;)

Welcome aboard, Dave! :D

That's a helluva knife you got there. Beautiful work.

Welcome to the forums--hope you stick around awhile (at least long enough for me to save up for one of these).

Welcome Dave, that is one fascinating looking knives and Coop is right it would hard to pick out a favorite element, they are all so wonderfully executed.

I can't think of a more memorable first post. ;)

I just sat down at the computer to unwind after a very long day to see if anyone replied to my post. Wow, you really know how to welcome a new member. Thank you very much for all of the kind words about my knife.

I made this very strong and very smooth action knife using a new (for me) precision folder making method by machinist / knifemaker Don Robinson. In order to hide the additional hardware required to make it His way I came up with the idea of the first layer of wood as a cover but it was very thin and it didn't feel comfortable in my hand and I didn't want to completely hide the first layer so I added the overlay. It's kind of hard to tell but the overall design evolved from a pistol grip. I've always liked hunting knives so I think that's where the blade shape comes from. I am starting a new one this time using a different wood combination, overlay design, filework, same blade shape but with carbon, pattern welded steel.

I truly appreciate the offers to buy but I want to make a few more as gifts first and I need to work out the business end of it before I start selling my knives.

I've included a picture of the lockup, hopefully you can see it. Thank you again, Dave

Dakcon~ Whhooaarrr!!!!...you're giving away this baby as a gift? Man! That must be one hell of a lucky guy/gal!!! Again, keep up the good work and welcome to the forums!

Eric.

I feel like I've dropped in the middle of a hot l.z. I've been reading another thread here and I want to say that I have never knowingly or intentionally copied another knifemaker. I'm very new to this knifemaking, I've made a total of five knives and I've always found the knifemaking community to be friendly and supportive. I love making knives and sharing information about knives, I never knew this other side existed until I joined this forum. I for one am too old and enjoy knifemaking too much to be any part of this. Thanks again to the people that liked my knife, Dave

Dakcon
First off welcome aboard!
Second off ignore that other thread. Thats over a long drawn out issue that we definitely don't want to bring up again here. I'll just say this, you've made a damn nice knife there and its definitely got a style all its own. Keep working like that and you will be very respected here :) Threads like the other one that has you worried are few and far between, there's a lot of stuff behind that other thread that a newcomer wouldn't/doesn't need to know about or be concerned with.

Really nice knife

that is one stunning knife, the two toning of the handle is soooo nice! Paul
