A new (non-Becker) purchase; and some mods to an old favorite...

That looks 300% better already IMO!! Nice work!! It's amazing how such a small mod can make such a big difference!

I like it. I imagine mine will be taking the plunge before too long.

Very nice! I tried to get my wife to buy me one for my birthday, but she's decided I have too many knives now, and she's only going to spend money on guns (and steel for making more of my own). Oh well.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments, it's kinda getting the opposite reaction in the Kershaw room, oh well, those guys don't know fixed blades. Thats why I wanted to keep this thread here. And in case anyone is curious the sheath and rentention strap is still fully functional, so thats a bonus.

I think it looks better without the top guard. But for some reason, those light gray pieces just don't look right to me. They seem not to go with the curved lines of the blade and handle. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're going to do with it.

One tip when you're making the handle--take it nice and slow. You can always remove more material. It's much harder to add it back on.

Good advice, BTW...That WIP thread you gave me the link to is epic. I can only dream to have the pieces of equipment, skill, and experience he has but it should serve as a really good reference for me. Thank you for the link.

Great minds think alike. I was thinking the same thing. The blade has a nice recurve to it and it flows nicely into the ergonomics of the handle but it gets all muddled up with all the sharp, hard angles all over the handle, it just doesn't fit. Soooo, I took it back to the belt sander and smoothed and softened all the sharp angles I could find. After that I decided I didn't like gray anymore so I gave it 4 coats of the Krylon touch. I don't know how long the paint will hold up but I think I'll grab one of those dura-coat diy kits when it starts chipping because I like the green better than the gray. Anyway, I promise these will be my last pics of this thing until I finish the hidden tang. I don't wanna start stepping on peoples toes having so many pics of a kai in the becker room. :D

After the final curvifying the retention strap on the sheath doesn't work anymore, :grumpy: I wasn't a big fan of the sheath anyway

Yep, I've got that bookmarked. Nick's an amazing maker. And he calls himself an amateur...

I like the looks of the new one. It's a great blade shape; I wouldn't mind seeing one with a Becker handle.

Green is a definite improvement, the grey just reminds me too much of toys. Black might be nice too, but the green is a definite improvement!

I think the green fits it well., Camp 10 implies that it's a knife to be used around camp., camp = outdoors, and I don't think there's a more outdoorsy color than green. Plus it looks good too!

That was my thought, thats why i went with green.
