New to me but an old one by Mr. Ray Cover. I was told around 20 years old. About 3 1/4 inch, 440C, some kind of dark wood dovetailed to the bolsters, half stops, file worked liners all the way around. All is well. Life is good.
One little tip for aging a Ray Cover knife is by checking for the presence of relieved liners. These are Clearly noticable on knives that have them by the semi-circle relieved area where the tang closes into the liners. Ray says the he started putting relieved liners on all of his knives around 1991. Any slipjoint by Ray without the relieved liners is therefore at least 16 years old
One of these days I'll put some pics together of some of Ray's really early work from the 60's and 70's...I guarantee it won't look familiar!
