I'm pretty new to Schrade collecting, and am focusing on the older ones, The Cut Co.s for instance. There are a lot of them flying around since the Factory collections have been sold, and a lot of them are beautiful knives. I've picked up a few Schrades over the years, and would like to add information to my small but growing collection. I thought I'd entice you good readers and participaters(sp?) with some pics, and hope for some informative comments, and pictures of yours. Here's a pen knife I bought at the recent Oregon Knife show.

I am waiting for my catalog reprint, and know little about these knives except that I consider them beautiful!
Please add pictures and/or comments, and thank you in advance

For some reason, my image won't stick! Moderator Help!!

Left to Right...
Schrade Walden 877 real mother of pearl
Schrade Walden 876 Stainless steel
Schrade Walden 876 marine (fake) mop

All have scissors and two blades; pen and file. Also shown is the little pocket purse that came with the Pearl. Hard to photograph this stuff. I usually display these together so you can show people the difference between real MOP and faux.

As anyone here knows, I am a huge fan of the "old school" schrades. In fact, a search will bring up 2 chunky "old school" threads that I started a while back that are chock full of great pics by all.

In keeping with this thread, here are a few old school offerings:

A Schrade Walden 175

A Schrade Walden 832

And a SCC senator pattern, I think the number would be F7704HT shackle...

Some nice knives there folks! Anyone have Schrade Cut Co fixed blades? I've only seen a couple of patterns so far, and no ads or catalog illustrations for them.

Ya know Codg, I was going to post a pic of one that I got recently, but I haven't taken the pic yet.

It is a SCC #365. It looks genuine to me, but I had never seen a fixed SCC, so I was hesitant. If I remember, I'll get a pic tonight.

I have an archived picture of a SCC 360 which is a near ringer for a Marbles Woodcraft, and darn close to a 1955 Belknap Bluegrass from the catalog. Only the old Marbles is mine though. Patented in 1916 by Webster Marbles, the patent expired in about 1931, so the design became public domain, and lots of makers made similar knives. I think Western States L88 is pretty close as well, except for the birds head pommel they used. The Marbles were 1095 carbon steel (newer ones ar more modern steel, not 1095 as this one is).

The L88 is the bottom knife.

Cool info...

Will post a pic of mine as soon as I can...

Here it is, and thanks for the great responses so far!!

Here is a pair of Harness Jacks that, I've been told, were customer premiums. I also collect Harness Jacks, and will post a couple more Scrades later.

I posted this Barlow in a Barlow thread, that seems to have fallen out of interest, before the great BF blackout!

Glennbad, I brought your old old(and new) thread back to new life because it's so great! You guys have a wonderful resource of knife collections and knowledge.
I see some Hammer brand knives posted in your thread, and wonder if there is a Schrade connection?!

Yup. In 1936, Imperial acquired the Hammer brand trademark formerly used by the closed New York Knife Company.

Is there any confusion about which ones were made by Schrade in the earlier years? Are the Tang stamps different?

Waynorth.. There is not really much confusion about old Hammers made NYKC and Imperial; the difference in quality is obvious. Imperial used the trademark on it's shell-handed knives. Sometimes a new collector will get burned on an ebay Imperial-Hammer purchase, but only once.

Some of the Imperial Hammers with the very colorful and unusual patterned handles will fetch a pretty good price. I just sold 3 toothpick-fishing knives with some very pretty tin-shell handles for enough money to buy a great old NYKC hammer.

Did they ever use the "hammer" on solid handled models, Phil? (no pun intended)

Waynorth,

I'd have to check, but I'm pretty sure I have an example of a solid handled Hammer.

Codg, I got those pics of the 365 as promised:

and here is G Schrade Stag brand fixed blade:

BTW, Waynorth,

You got some nice blades there yourself. The SCC whittler is awesome! Do you use ebay? I just want to make sure I am not in a bidding battle with you by mistake. No reason for us to jack the prices up.

Glenn

There are a couple coming up soon on jerdan's auctions that I've set up for a snipe, Glenn. I think they are Sunday. Maybe we should email off site here. charlie.campagna@telus.net
Here are 2 pens, the larger one with waterfall handles, and the smaller with a bright translucent yellow. The waterfall is always better live. Do you know the model numbers on these ?
SchradePens.jpg

The top one looks like a 708Y to me...

The bottom is most likely a 7424?T..."7" for a 2 blade knife, "42" for the senator pattern, "4" for celluloid, "?" because I can't say for sure what color cell it is, and "T" for tipped bolsters.

As far as ebay is concerned, I usually move on when I see a schrade friend already bidding on something. My handle is "glennbad". I set my max bid ahead of time, and live with the results. If someone wants to outbid me, more power to them.

I will retain your email for future correspondence.
