My question for you is which CK. I'm going with the larger size but which model, 21, 25, or the*Umnumzaan? Im not really even sure of the differences between the three of them. Please tell me which model I should buy and why.
My opinion is to get the plain 21 as a first CRK (double stud if possible). It is simplicity and function at its best! The knife is stout enough to handle heavy duty work. I prefer the plain to an inlayed large 21 - it feels better in my hand (I do prefer an inlayed small 21). Having said that, if you are really going to put this knife to task, maybe the Zaan.

Also, a perfect ONLY CRK IF you can stop at one.![]()

Unboxing and tagging these sure makes me glad I've sold off about 3 dozen so far.......![]()
1. There is not a bad knife in the bunch. They are ALL truly exceptional knives.
2. Do you want speed or versatility or perhaps a blend of both?
Speaking to point 2:
- Versatility: 21
- Speed: Umnumzaan
- Blend of Both: 25
Note: the above is not to say a 21 can't fly out with flick of thumb OR that the Umnumzaan is out of place.
If you have ALWAYS wanted a Sebenza. Get the 21. The bushing pivot in the 21 is what makes a Sebenza a Sebenza. If you get the Umnumzaan or the 25 and think that has scratched your desire for a Sebenza, sorry...it won't.
Does the Bushing Pivot make the 21 a better knife than the 25?: NO.
Does the Bushing Pivot make the 21 a smoother knife than the 25?: NO.
Does the Adjustable Lager Pivot make the 25/Zaan a stronger knife than the 21?: NO.
Of all CRKs, I personally prefer the Zaan. I love the action, the stud/bladestop's positioning to the pivot, and the ceramic ball detent/lockup. I have a Small Sebenza 21 Tanto that I love as well.
My advice:
- If you wanted the quintessential Chris Reeve knife. Go with the 21. It's an outstanding folder.
- After you purchase your first CRK, go ahead and start saving up. It won't be your last CRK.
Cheers!
- K
Wait, what was that last part??? ^
Yeah, what was that again?![]()
