I got a Queen #95 fixed blade last week from ebay. One of those that looked better in the picture. It almost looks like a plastick handle material. Steel is good and has a sharp edge to it. If anyone can tell me about it, I would appreciate it.

Handles are indeed delrin...imitation winterbottom bone. Hard to determine the exact vintage but in the range of early 60's to late 70's.

Yes the blade seems great, but the handle is not so good. I wonder what it would cost to have someone put new handle material on it? Anybody have any idea? Maybe I will try it myself.

You have a very useful outdoors knife here in a respectble grade of quality steel in near mint condition!. Its a good find for sure. Unless the handle is cracked, split, chipped or broken I would leave it alone and use the knife.

I have looked at Queen's winterbottom delrin many times on ebay, and I have never pulled the trigger. I think we have similar tastes. I think it would be cool to remove those scales and replace them with bone or some nice hard wood. I know there are various guys here that will replace scales for a modest fee. Then your knife will have a story. It is what is important to you. I can tell by your post, you do not like the knife scales as far as form, but function is probably fine. I have a fight'n rooster toe nail coming in the mail with booger green and snot yellow striped celluloid that I am going to have replaced with something else. Getting a great deal on a knife because the scales are in disrepair or just ugly is a great starting point to have something tweaked to your liking. Turn this frown upside down with some new scales.....:-)
