A New Respect

Dan, I've actually been sleeping good since the puncture. What I think has happend is now I know I can't be making for a few weeks so I'm not laying in bed thinking about the next project. I've got one knife I'll finish up today and then I've got about 8 sheaths to make. The stitching has got me concerned but happend to think there was another maker close by that may have a sewing machine. I just hope I can find his number.

Bill, I think I'm good for a few months now till something else goes wrong. I may go check out the army surplus store and see if there having a special on parachutes. Maybe Harbor Freight has some. :D

Howie, Just flesh. Right in the meaty part of my hand. I could do without this happening but I feel pretty fortunate.

Ray....I'm really sorry you hurt yourself.....I'm really glad it wasn't worse...

NOW that I've said that, If I were so lucky as to make a knife and NOT cut myself, I'd throw it away because I'd be sure it was cursed!
I just consider it ...first hand testing....REMEMBER the famous Head Chop Super Bowie?

Anyway, I'm glad you didn't get hurt any worse. Could have been some serious damage.

thats enough, quit your darn whinnying and get back to work, geez. :D I've had more band aids on after getting to cozy with a fresh 36 grit belt. Actually that hand wrap looks kind of stylin', you'll probably start something and every forger in the country will be wrapping up soon, just to keep the style go'in. :D :D GET BACK TO WORK YOU SLACKER. :D

Bill

Sorry Ray, but I had to laugh... :D Not about being set back from work, that's a blow, but because like a bunch of these other guys I've done the same thing. I was putting some Ren wax on a knife getting it ready to send off one afternoon when it slipped out of my hand. I caught it before it hit the floor, but the tip of my finger flapped open and I made a real mess all over the place! :D I should have gotten stitches but was just too stubborn. Still don't have feeling in that fingertip, but it did heal up just fine - in about a month. Hope you get back on track soon man, take care of your wound carefully. Seems like every time we learn one lesson there's another lurking just around the corner... ;)

I thought for sure this injury was going to slow me down but really haven't missed much work. Did get a surprize yesterday, the bill for getting my hand stitched up. With health insurance prices out of reach I thought it wise to stay away from an emergency room and was able to get the stitching done at a doctor's office thinking it would be cheaper. I ended up getting 4 stitches at little less than $100.00 each. Guess I may have been able to get along without them but I'd have to baby the hand for a much longer time.

I dont know how they sleep at night at 100$ per stitch......probably in silk pajamas :D
Good to hear it didnt slow you down.
