heres a nice little crusier that i picked up awhile back at a pawn shop in town. i actually hung it a few months ago and just kind of set it aside.
well, today i finally decided it was time to finish the 'job' and this is the result;
mann true american cruiser...

bit to bit: 8"
bit(s): 4"
OA length: 27 1/2"
head weight: 2lb 9oz
OA weight: 3lb 11oz

i really like this little guy... seems to be an ideal axe for hunting or fishing camp. it is also light enough to carry on a relatively short backbacking trip.
now, like the sager, i need to make a nice sheath for it...
thanks for looking, i hope you enjoy the pics...:)

Youv've got that whole hangin doubles thing down, man! That thing looks great. I use that same model Mann cruiser at work every day for splitting and a little bucking and man, that thing rocks. Very nicely done, sir.

thanks for the nice comments fellows...

except you memphis, from the arm pit of the west (no wait, thats NV)...:D...

Excellent! I've always like Mann axes. I have a heavy single bit on a 36" handle and it seems axes don't come much better than that.

She's a great looker. What a great haft. Most of the handles here are hickory imported from USA. Sometime I have to sort through plenty to find one with grain like that. Re-hung an axe for my Dad (RIP) over 20 years ago. I now own that axe and it has done plenty of work in the wood-pile. It's well worth the time to choose a good haft.

that is a bad dog.

and the cruiser is also very bad.:D
all good

buzz
btw, i have a Collins cruiser about the same size and weight
mine has
3-7/8 in. bits 8-1/4 in. long @ 3lb 5oz total weight
27 inch handle
cost $35.00 at an estate auction
the girl who bid against me called me a butt when i won the sale:eek::cool:

also i wanted to say , you sure found an excellent handle for the cruiser.

LOL! You know that I would talk less crap if I wasn't jealous that you live in the mountains while I live in suburbia. :barf:

I need to get a cruiser, I gave both of mine (a Collins and a Plumb) away for Christmas.

thanks again for all the nice remarks fellows...

pullrich, sorry to hear about your 'shortie' aka a beagle...:(
our two are 8 1/2 and 7 1/2... hes the youngest, they both are from the same parents, just a differant year...

memphis, those were awfully nice christmas presents you gave...:)

i can't seem to figure out how to load images.
i probably should open a photo bucket account.

it would be nice to post images of some of the stuff i have around here.

if i upgraded my account i'd probably start selling some of the saws and axes just so i could make room for more stuff.
LOL

i made cradles for all my one man saws, don't know if you guys have seen one of these or not. argh:D pretty handy for storing and transporting safely

like a two by four with a slot ripped about two inches deep down the length of the board on the edge.
the saw teeth fit in there, a strap over one end for the end of the saw to snug into, and length of rope to tie the handle end down on the other.
