a nice little crusier w/pics

that looks nice! thanks cb-r...

man i would love to own an old grinder like that... tell him that someone from montana really needs it:D

It does. But I was 5 years old then. I remember getting on it and peddling it. It was easy to do even for a 5 year old.

Dad also had a funky two-wheeled walk behind tractor with a set of plow discs. I'd give anything to have that back. We had a vegetable garden just over an acre in size. I recall pulling weeds almost all summer long.

And I remember Mom canning unreal amounts of veggies. Our basement was full of shelves stocked with home-canned veggies.

We used to can gobs of jalapenos. It cracks me up to think of three little kids getting ready to eat dinner, passing around and eating jalapenos straight out of the jar. What kids do that?

Bear...Amen about the grinder. Wonder if the stone came from Grindstone Michigan?

When you use the term 'Cruiser' is that referring to a particular size or weight...like in boxing?

Yes, a 'cruiser' is typically a mid-weight axe, 2-1/2 to 3 pounds, on a less than full length handle, usually about 28". This size is easier to pack on extended backwoods treks.

what square peg said, plus the lightweight 'crusier' axe was used in the old days when folks were crusing timber for a logging job...
they would carry the crusier and mark the trees to be left standing... nowadays, they just use spray paint...

they were also used for blazing a trail...

Very nice Bearhunter. I picked up a Kelly Registered Cruiser this year but have yet to put it to use. I think of Dick Proennekke when ever I pick it up. Amazing what he did with one of these.
