Hey folks,

Been out of the traditional thing for a couple years. The last awesome GEC I had was a #66 Calf Roper Slim. I went looking for them in a couple places and can't find 'em. Are they long gone and only available on the secondary market? If that is the case, can any of you fine human beings recommend a nice thin (single backspring) 2 blade GEC?

Thanks much :)

Personally, I like the Nothwoods presidential (made by GEC) and the 09 Esquire for single spring GECs, but there are others out there! Those are two very different knives, do you have a range for closed length or are you trying to stay in that same size area?

Another vote for the #35 Churchill, fantastic single spring 2 blade GEC.

There are a few, but the 3 blade versions at GunStockJack, 3 or so in the tortoise shell acrylic and one in jig bone, with a corset shield.
But no 2 blade versions.

I have recently fallen in love with 2-blade single spring knives. I echo the 35 comments, especially because you can still find them. But even slimmer are some configurations of the 61, 62, and 68, though they can be hard to come by. Also Northwoods Willamette Whittler. I’m sure there are others out there.

Good call on the Willamette Whittler. If the OP likes wharncliffes, the Willamette is pretty awesome.

The 66s are not currently available so you would have to look on the secondary market for one of those. As others here have said the 35 Churchill is still surprisingly available, I have a few and they are fantastic. I can't think of any other single spring 2 blade GECs that are currently available from the dealers.

Some day (over the rainbow..) GEC MIGHT release the 33 Conductor or 68 White Owl again. Both excellent pen type knives (single spring 2 blades, my favourite arrangement)

The 35 is excellent and already mentioned a bit :D

But think about the 217 release of 13s in this configuration, Clerk, they hit the spot  and should be available with patience. Also in wood, bone and stag.

Another suggestion for the #35 here.

People have grumbled about the availability of GECs, and I understand to a point. But there are LOTS of great ones sitting on dealers shelves.

A couple different cover options available still on the Churchills.

I agree, the 33 was a great one!

Man it's interesting to see a #13 and compare it to mine

Doubt you can find one, but the 68 is a peach. A larger & more robust "grown up" version is the 35. Happy hunting.

Thank you all so much. I really like the look of the Churchill. I think I'm going to snag one of those and give it a try.

Does it have half-stops or no?
